Was that a typo in the press release in regards to the brakes? Autoblog states they are out of the GT parts bin, but the front size doesn't match. It should be 12.5" if it's the GT braking system.
I've waited so long to see you say this

I don't know about that. I'd still buy a 2010 V6 and GT, if only for collect-ability reasons.

That said, I am now even more impatient for the details on the Coyote, plus I think I know what the bore and stroke will be.

Yeah, cause all those 2004 3.9L Mustang V6s are catching TONNES of coinage on ebay
I highly doubt anyone will care in the future.
"wow you have a 2010 4.6L v8, the only year before the 5L came out"
Sorry, won't happen.

Wow, looks like my musings/hopes were pretty accurate and the V6 Mustang is finally a real performance car in its own right, not just a cheap showboat with flash but no substance.
  • 300+hp mill with good torque, efficiency and a 7K red line to differentiate itself from its industrial age predecessor
  • A six pack in both trannies
  • Brakes suitable for aforementioned motor rather than the neighbor-kid's go-cart
  • Dual exhaust that won't be confused for the sound of a leaking beach ball
  • Steering and suspension that presume one might actually want to drive a Mustang, quickly.
  • Cleaned up aerodynamics to better convert the engine's power into motion rather, all while keeping the gas budget in check.
Interesting comments on the track pack version's prowess on the track (possibly beating a big gun 4.6 GT). With an engine putting out essentially the same energy yet with significantly less fat to hold it back and a proper suspension, that ought not to be surprising. Presumably Ford will keep the sticker from shocking, but with plenty of V6 competition from Chevy, Dodge, Hyundai coming in around the $25K zone, Ford has to be much more price/value conscious than they have in the past with the Stang when it was the only game in town.

While it still has that other industrial age relic in the live axle, its considerable weight advantage over at least the Camaro and (especially) Challenger should more than compensate that weakness. Of course, the Hyundai Genesis has both a 300hp V6, six cogger and IRS with similar weight, so that may be the most direct comparison car for the Stang V6.

Overall though, very exciting news and should really inject a lot of juice into the largest portion of the Mustang's sales.

Now, about that other shoe dropping, the 5.0...

I've given Ford credit where it's due. The Mustang still needs a bit more in my eyes. Better bolstered seats and an IRS rear would shut me up

I am still waiting to see the V8 output. Given the V6's hp/liter output, a 5.0L version would be 410hp.

I believed the 400 number was plausible. My arguement was against the higher numbers.

Yes, the 468HP number on a STOCK GT is bs.

I imagine the engine will peak at around 360 torque. With a 7k redline the 400HP number becomes plausible.

I'm sure the engine is completely capable,
but street/production tune. No

I think it was for arguments sake. Kind of like how you are throwing out 410 hp, like 400 will be disappointing. Gotcha!

Link to the confirmed 468HP GT?

No one doubted the 300+ HP V6.

I don't think anyone doubted that either. I DOUBTED 425, believed 375, and 400 I felt was pushing it. Now that we see the motor will probably rev to 7k, 400 is more believable.

Correct, I've said 400hp for a long time,
and continued to say that the 468 was probably 'to see what it can do'

400 I felt was pushing it

That is all
