That's somewhat true for me. When my car was stock I would always run into modded Mustangs, Cobras, and Camaros. Ever since I got my supercharger 2 years ago, all I've run into is stock Mustangs, and Camaros.

So when does the Mustang get a twin-turbo 3.7L?
id rather see that twin turbo 3.7L in the SHO only. off topic i know.

You mean 3.5TT in the SHO.
There is no 3.7 TT at this time

Is it true that we will have to wait until August to order the V6 with the performance package? If so, will the same restriction apply to the GT?

The Fusion finally gets the 3.5 in the Fusion Sport, and the Mustang at least gets a 305 hp this time around. This isn't exactly a revolutionary design, since GM beat Ford to the bunch with a 300 hp / ~30 MPG V6 in the Camaro, but its at least a start for Ford.
Ford didn't have the capacity to build the 3.5/3.7 V6 engines in bulk for all the car lines that it wanted to put them in. They have ramped up production of the 3.5L motor the last couple of years and now they have the logistics to equip the cars with these motors. It wasn't an issue wether or not Ford wanted to put the motors in the car but what cars got the motor first. I agree though the 2010 Mustang should have had this motor from the get go.

And uh... even if the 3.7 was ready...
you're not going to put in a 305hp V6 and have a 315-325hp V8.
That's why they were released together.... derppp...

It's Ford's fault for not distributing the 3.5/3.7 to a larger variety of models earlier. The 3.0 Duratec and 4.0L Cologne V6s have had it, they should have been obsoleted 5-10 years ago. The fact is the competition has had the upper hand with V6 engines for at least the past decade. Nissan's 3.5L V6 made 300+ hp and their new 3.7L V6 makes 330 hp. GM's V6 engines have been very reliable and fuel efficient. A Malibu, Impala, or G6 can get 29-30+ MPG highway without anything fancy.

Oh I agree....

I'm just talking about the hear and now...remember 3-5 years ago Ford just wanted to build SUV's and trucks.

To be honest..I would love to see Ford build a 370hp version of this motor, 100hp/litre. Show Porsche and BMW that they aren't the only ones that can build these. The new 3.8H6 in the 997S is now at 385hp with a factory kit that bumps this up over 400hp. Granted they cost an arm and a leg. However, this motor with DFI has recorded up to 33mpg is a test that was done..it got over 21 city! Car runs low 12's @116mph, 186mph and gets this kind of mileage...we can dream can't we.

Will the Performance Pack be available with the V6 Convertible models?

And any guesses on price? I'm guessing either $995 if Ford wants to be really nice, or more likely $1295.

Check the Order Guide here:

Price Guide here:

EDIT: Whoops, I didn't catch you were looking for the V6 PP. As far as we know, there is no info out on that yet. It won't be available until Job 2, which might be the middle-last quarter of this year.

I bet Ford could release a 370 hp 3.7L V6, but they'd charge $60k for it.

Trust me, I practically memorized those guides.

Well it should be going into production in August or September ("late summer"), so I hope we know something more by May or June.

Track pack is nice but those 19" tires sure are expensive to replace...

I am not a mustang guy, but this performance pack has got me really interested in one. However it's really disappointing to have to wait until job 2 or August until these hit dealers when its just an off the shelf V8 chassis with a 3.7 motor, wheels and brake pads(?). I also wish the rims were 18s and not 19s because it just makes tires more expensive. Price is $1995 according to Car and Driver, for those still looking.
