I actually think it will be dead nuts. The V6 is lighter and has an additional gear.

The 6th gear is useless in a race. 6th is for cruising. It is lighter but also 55 torque less as well. Also has less gear unless optioned up.

I agree on 13's with a cheater slick, not on factory rubber.
We shall see, I can't wait to see them racing both drag and autocross.

I have not checked the transmission rations, but typically when they add a 6th gear they make 1-4 more aggressive.

From what I read, only the sixth gear is an ovedrive so the V6 has a lot more gear than the GT. I think its 4.26 for first, 2.54 for second, 1.67 for third...So the V6 already has "4.10s" compared to the GT.

I thought TQ was 280 versus 320 or 325?

It has to be a double overdrive with 4th being the 1:1.

Wow, that's pretty aggressive! And with a 7k redline, probably won't be shifting much sooner either...

The tech specs on Ford media shows 5th as 1:1. 4th was 1.23 or something like that.

Agreed, even with the higher redline its a wash or earlier! But the new engine is suppose to be a smooth operator so it should be fun taking it to redline.

Man you posted that quick, sorry for the double post. I was talking about manual transmissions but a lot of this stuff applies for autos too.

The 3.7L was already available on the 2008 Mazda CX-9 for several years, and is based on the 3.5L DOHC V6 used in the 500/Taurus.

So when does the Mustang get a twin-turbo 3.7L?

Eh, no, but for most cars out on the road, yes. Like I said, I feel like a lot of SN95 and S197 owners that had been holding out for a SC install, will soon be placing their orders .

Unless of course you run into a Coyote owner with a S/C
or a GT500 ... or a modded GT500... or... or...

There's ALWAYS something faster.

No. You are only allowed to mod your car. The other car is always stock. Didn't you know?
