In our state, you can buy "stated value" insurance which allows you to state the value you want covered. Your premiums will be adjusted accordingly.

Based on a quick search, stated value coverage is available at least through collector car insurance policies (e.g., Auto Club of So Cal). The owner would, hopefully, have the presence of mind to inquire about this before taking the car home.

I would imagine it depends on how much the stock engine can take -- the high compression and weak rods I am sure are issues they (Ford/Whipple since Shelby is just an installer these days) will have to deal with.

I certainly hope Ford is paying attention to this abomination and learns what NOT to do with any future SE models (i.e. Boss 302). The only thing I like about the GT350 is that it is a Mustang but honestly that's it - truly fugly.

They don't know how much the engine will take before you have to crack it open. That is what Ford/Whipple is working on before they release the kit for Shelby to install. Those numbers were just taken from estimated boost calculations.
