See, my point is, if they're including a ~400hp engine and 6spd, the Track Pack and Brembos should be standard. The Camaro SS base price is around $28k. Brembos? Standard. IRS? Standard. Yes I'm one of the "the SRA is just fine" believers. But just saying. If GM can do it, why can't Ford?

I won't be *****ing and moaning if Ford offers me a GT with 6spd, Brembos, 3.73s and decent suspension for $30k. Even $31k. But any more than that and I think the car is over priced. Compared to competition. I think I would add the navi also, but am willing to pay for it so my dash looks cleaner than an aftermarket double din housed in a scosche/metra "kit" that will look like crap and not fit right.

So with those options and 3.73 package, if I'm under $35k. I will be happy.

Wait.. so before you're complaining about the Mustang being "out of reach" of the average consumer, now you want to add even MORE standard equipment? Listen guys, how much profit do you think is built into the MSRP of a car? There's not 10k of profit on a 30k car that ford can just eat away at by adding more standard equipment for free. Cars, like all products, have costs: R&D, manufacturing, raw materials, and the car is priced a small margin above that cost. You cannot say it should have something because another car has it, because each car is different in the way it is developed, engineered, and manufactured. Cars today cost a lot more than 10 years ago: more stringent safety standards, more technology required by federal law, rising labor and material costs that far outpace inflation. Unless somebody has some brilliant idea how to re-invent the wheel here (literally) simply complaining about what you are and are not "willing" to pay for a car is just silly.

1) The Brembo-ladden Camaro SS starts at $30,745 MSRP (a bit more than $28k). Also, I am pretty sure they are just Brembo calipers, so there is lots of room for improvement. Just because it has the Brembo name on them doesn't make them all-conquering.
2) I would take the overall quality of the Mustang over the Camaro any day of the week. Besides, HP is easy to add. An interior I could actually drive in without getting sick to my stomach is a bit more complicated.

That being said, Ford should stay close in both HP and cost, but especially cost. If HP is sacrificed for quality, that is fine by me (to a point). The Mustang rarely (ever?) won the HP wars, but almost always won the sales wars. And, that is why it has been successful for so long. Best overall car, not best at any one thing.

Hang tight my man. Jesues, 400 hp is a lot for anybody. This next stang will rock no doubt. HaNG ON OK? Trust me. the 2010 Mustangs will be almost worthless when the 5 oh hits. trust me.

After a year or so you can pick one up for little or nothing. After all,. who wants a 4.6 with the 5.0 out?

Im going to wait this out and let the suckers be the R and D department for the 5.0. Let them beat on it to see what its all about and then I may consider one. Not before. Just my two cents and its only worth one. Good luck. I love MUstangs.

LOL, yeah, time for a

I'm almost 39, good professional job, mortgage, married with 2 children and there's no way I could afford a 2011 5.0..........but I don't care. I love my '05 and treat it like a third child. However, I'm still as excited as a kid at Christmas at the prospect of next year's Mustangs.

Lets just be grateful Ford is still in a position to be selling any Mustangs, never mind quite possibly the best Mustangs ever next year.

The SVT package consists of the rear wing and difuser from the Shelby along with the 19x9.5 wheels but painted silver not the darker finish. check out the Mustang AV-X10. May get the front from SEMA "Ford Accessories" Car. Or that fascia could be held for the GT/CS.

I see three possible courses of action.

1. You can hope that Ford adds more expensive parts and yet lowers the price by thousands of dollars. I forsee no happiness down this route.

2. You can drive your current Mustang for a few more years and save up until you can afford a brand new Mustang GT with all the stuff you want.

3. If you wait until next summer there will be both 2010 and 2011 Mustangs on the dealer lots. I expect there will be some deep discounts on the 2010's. Most likely deep enough so that you can get one with navigation and 3.73 axle package for a price you can afford. You drive this car with a smile on your face for a few years, realizing that the vast majority of the human population will never drive a car this fun or cool. Maybe three years down the road you will be making a little more money and you'll have this 2010 mostly paid off. At that point you can build your vision of the perfect Mustang (more power via supercharger, stiffer suspension, super expensive tires, more powerful brakes, whatever) using parts from Roush, Ford Racing Performance Parts, Steeda, SMS Supercars, Shelby, etc.

Just for clarity, the SVT package will be available on the GT, correct?

No, I think it's more like the Track Pack for the GT500, the way it sounds. With the stripes and Gurney flap, those are GT500 traits.

Poor wording on my part. The 2010 Mustangs will have some rebates on the hood when the 5.0 Stangs hit the lot. I almost guarantee it. Not a thing wrong in the world with a 4.6 stangs. Heck, I own one that is a sn95. My point was I guess is that they could be had at a bargain when the five oh hits the street. Listen, I am a Mustang fan but also try to be realistic.

I have owned my fair share of Gm cars and trucks and I can tell you I am done with them. I still have one in the driveway. Drivetrain is a 4.3 V6 which is great overall as far as durability but the rest of the truck is crap.

Anyway, when is the LA auto show?

IMHO, the differences between the '05-'09, '10 and the upcoming 5.0 are minute details. These cars have a personality all their own. Purchase what makes you happy. Same reason we picked a Mustang over a Camaro or Challenger. I think they are all cool and I'm glad Detroit is making these kinds of cars again regardless of the badge. They are all fast. Or faster then the choices we had a few years ago (i.e. the '80s-90s)

For me, 300 hp is more than enough, in the real world. It gets out of it's own way and makes me happy doing it. When was the last time you could buy a high to mid 13 second car at a dealer.

I am a reformed street racer..can't afford to lose my job to have a little fun. I've lost enough friends who made themselves stains on the pavment anyway. And I don't race on the track anymore so do I need 400 hp. No.

Am I going to sell my '08 for a few extra hp, some different options, no. But if that makes you happy, go for it.

That would be perfect and add the front from the Ford acc car. You would not have to touch it looks wise.

You got that right!

A 5.0 with the GT500 rear spoiler and rear facia, 19" wheels on lowered suspension, plus the front facia from the Ford accessories car would be just about perfect.
