2011 Mustang Stuff - some options
As we argued before, I want the features as well. I just don't want to pay $40k for a Mustang GT with them. If I can get my "transaction price" to be at or around $35k with the Brembos, electronics package and Track Pack, I will be happy as a clam!
Should be doable I bet. The Brembos on the GT500 aren't anything to write home about. I can't see them as more than a $500 upgrade to the standard GT brakes when coming from the factory.
I don't see the Brembo's being a pricey option on the GT. Maybe $500-800 tops.
GT500 is getting bigger brakes too, as the products are shifting down a trim level.
I am also one who waits to get exactly what they want. Never ordered a car yet, but thinking that this will be the one that I get ordered from scratch to get things exactly. I just lucked out with my 2 previous cars.
The big topic for me is to spend the $$$ on the nav/electronics pkg. Shaker 1000 is a waste of money IMO, unless you're totally inept or hate messing with things on your car, and HIDs, comfort, security, track, and Brembo pkgs. will be a given.

Did you not see I said a fully loaded Mustang GT is approaching 40k...I didn't say base, I said fully loaded. I'm not talking about what is being negotiated or before rebate. The fact is a fully loaded Mustang GT's MSRP is over $40k now.
Why does everything have to end up in a pissing match....no where in my post did I state the transaction price is $40k, just the MSRP.

You were implying that the Mustang is an expensive car which is misleading because it doesn't have to be, and MSRP rarely means final price.
I was just using a hyperbole to say you can't look at a rounded-up fully optioned price and imply that is the price of the car.
Not to mention, you get a hell of a lot for the money. No other car I can think of comes close in overall value for the money for a sporty 4 seater, while still allowing the buyer (who chooses to) option the car out quite throughly.
The good news is the V6 looks like it might now be a legitimate option for a performance/sporty car (darn near close to the current GT). Not good for the "I need a V8" crowd, but great for people who want performance for a cheap price.
If you really want to get into it, let's compare performance for dollar to the '04s (the last gen).
An '11 V6 will have more power and better handling than the 04 GT and could end up costing $3k less.
An '11 GT will have more power and better handling than an '04 Cobra and could end up costing $5k less.
So, technically, the cost of the Mustang has gone down in 7 years.
The problem is as we get accustomed to the new stuff, it is never good enough and we always want what is just out of reach.
The 390HP rating on the terminator was a joke as they all put down over 360 to the wheels stock. The actual output was more like 425. Comparing the terminator to even an 11' GT is dumb though. The 04 will kill even an 11 GT especially once the modding begins. Sorry, but a mass produced Ford engine, even the leet coyote < hand built all forged Romeo-Niche engine. I'll take it back if you can get your 11 GT into the low 11's with $2,000 the way you can an 03/04 Cobra. Call me when a Mustang GT ships with these in it:

If not everyone gets them fully loaded, and those that do don't even pay the "fully loaded" price (which you acknowledge), why even bring up the figure in the first place?

Once again I'm not implying anything..just stating the facts that the MSRP on a fully loaded Mustang GT is $40k already.....what you actually get it for are two different things.
I own a 997S that starts at $82k, so $40k is relatively cheap in the scheme of things and I think still a great deal for the car you get.
As far as what a "Terminator" sold for..what does that have anything to do with the fact that a new 2010 Mustang GT fully loaded is again....$40k?

Agreed that engine is a beast and is WAY over engineered (making it nice for cheap HP)
Yep, especially if they plan to move a high percentage of them on vehicles. They'll price it at a volume discount that makes them money and makes it an appealing option for a lot of people. I'm sure a lot of guys on here wouldn't shell out $1500 for a Brembo package when you can do it from the aftermarket for about the same cost.
More stuff on the 2011's. This time for the GT500 Coupe stripe possibities. Two-tone stripes and I'm guessing that 85W is perforated for the glass roof option, but that's just my guess....
85B = GRABBER BLUE STRIPE
85R = COLORADO RED STRIPE
85W = WHITE STRIPE PERF (perforated for glass roof perhaps?)
85X = BLACK STRIPE
85Z = RACE RED/INGOT SILVER STRIPE
851 = RACE RED/BLACK STRIPE
852 = WHITE STRIPE
857 = SILVER STRIPE
