2011 Mustang GT: Actual Weight
#41
This weekend I tried to fit a 16" temp spare on the front of my V6 ... NO GO. A 17" temp spare and jack kit from a 2005-10 GT will work and will fit in the well (or you could get the lighter and probably more expencive 18" aluminum temp spare from an '11 GT).
The Goo Canister is BUILT INTO the pump assembly.
You can pump up a tire with JUST AIR, or AIR & GOO.
The Pump Assembly is housed in a block of styrofoam that is held down in the middle with what appears to be a std spare tire bolt & wing nut. The block of syrofoam supports the trunk floor which appears to also have a thicker reinforcment board attached to the bottom of the carpet (probably twice as thick as the regular masonite board in prior Mustangs with a temp spare).
Owners Manual states the GOO Canister has a shelf life (like 4 yrs if I remember correctly).
I plan on getting a spare & jack kit eventually ... but ... am going to put a decent tire plug kit in my car for now as I refuse to use the goo. The goo not only trashes the tire (screws up balance), it ruins the TPMS sensor too. Any puncture that goo can fix can be fixed by a plug and the tire is still professionally servicable (by a patch or plug/patch combo) and obviously the TPMS sensor is not destroyed. When using a plug, you can still use the pump to fill tire back up and maybe even help you find the puncture so you can plug it.
Of course the only time I needed to use a temp spare in the last 16 years / 350k miles of driving SN-95 Mustangs the tire was damaged beyond repair. It was also 11:00 at night and it was snowing ... certainly glad I had a temp spare then !!

Had that crap in my Bullitt. Thats a joke if you actually drive the car . Go pick up a cheapy spare and save yourself some grief down the road. I know on the 08 you could mod the trunk panel a little and get a full size 18" spare with no air in it and keep the pump in the trunk to air it up.

I weighed my car the other day but was on a regular truck scale at a local place that sells stone. Filled up at the station drove less then 1 mile and with me in it was exactly 3800lbs. I weighed in at 180lbs when I got home so puts my car at about 3620lbs which seems pretty close to what I have seen listed in most test. I have GT Premium 6M, 3.73, Elec., Comfort, Security Packages, Brembo and rear video. My car has no spare comes with a pump only. I am guessing about as heavy as they come short of a glass roof or convet.
