Kinda OT but if Ford knows about it then did they fix it for 2012s?

I don't think anyone knows yet, unless someone with a 2012 GT cares to check and see what Clutch parts they've got and if they match a 2011 GT. Dunno what they plan to do.

All I can say is that my 2011 GT has one of them weird double spring clutch assemblies that Ford put in 2011s that were having the stuck clutch issues (at least that's my theory). Not that I ever saw it, they installed it before shipping it out of Detroit, but I'm 90% certain that's what happened. Coffeejolts on here lives practically down the street from me and both of our cars were built same day, but when a hold finally got lifted his car jumped the next train and mine went "off site" for a couple days, then hopped on a train the next week. There were some stories going on that this was the case, further confirmed when I checked my clutch (someone posted the clutch assemblies with a note that that one was the 2011 GT and one was the 2010 GT500, and that the GT500s were the ones getting put into cars going in for TSBs, neither pic matched exactly what's in my car).

You could say I'm kinda curious to see what comes out of this.

I think you guys are confused... The 2-3 spring thing is the clutch PEDAL assembly not the clutch assembly between the motor and tranny.

Right yes, clutch PEDAL assembly. Sorry if I was a little vague.

Weird. How much have these issues been affecting you?

rough shifting when cold.. slight grind or clunking going through 1-4 gears.. 2nd and 3rd being the worse..

already went to dealer.. on Jan 6th.. advised they are aware of thee issue and working on the fix..

that was 2 months ago.. car has mostly been garaged.. since then..

i let the car warm up in the driveway for about 5 min.. (only bc of tranny issue).. leave driveway shift out at 4k+ no grinding or clunkiness.. altho when i get to the end of the street i still cant get it back into 1st without some effort (rowning through other gears until it pops in)..

My car was built on 5/20, and has the double spring. I have had some odd shifting when cold, and even warm. I will see if theres a fix, and get it to the dealer. I would like to get a Barton shifter, but only after getting things looked at. My friend said there was a new clutch design last August. Im not sure when, or if they made it into the new production cars. I did start it up 2 weeks ago, 40s out. Sitting still the car shifted perfect. Ronn

Hoping for a TSB number soon...

Even though my clutch woes improved vastly when they replaced my clutch the first time with the new pressure plate bolts

I drove the 2012 GT I ordered that had a 2/22 build week and the clutch seemed fine. With that said the car only has 10 miles on it at the moment. Only time will tell if the issues have been resolved.

My car was built 6/9/10 and I hope this becomes a TSB. I dislike the way my car shifts. Our 1970 Mustang Mach 1 is better

Great news! My car always experiences a rough 2-3 shift on a cold transmission.

This TSB arrived this morning:

FORD:
2011-2012 Mustang

ISSUE
Some 2011-2012 Mustang vehicles equipped with a MT82 6-speed manual transmission may exhibit increased shift efforts in cold ambient temperatures. This is usually most noticeable in 1st and 2nd gears but may also be noticed in 3rd through 6th gears. The increased shift effort may be the result of the increased viscosity of the transmission fluid in cold weather.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
Replace the MotorcraftFull Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid with 2.6L (2.7 qt) of Motorcraft Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 308-03A for the transmission fluid draining and filling procedure.

This fluid is suitable for use in all ambient temperatures and seasons, and the Scheduled Maintenance guidelines in the Owner Guide can continue to be followed.

The use of friction modifiers or other fluid additives is not recommended since although they may provide some immediate improvement in cold shift effort, they are likely to result in long term degradation of the synchronizers
.

Right, because the Challenger and Camaro are well-known to be 100% free of problems.

I visit the Camaro5 forums and there are complains about manual transmission problems also. Go there and see.
