skip shift is not a problem for me, I thought it would be when I bought the car. I never disabled it.

I also notice a rattle from the tranny/shifter when I go into too high of a gear. Anyone know what that sound is?!

I just hate sounds in tHe car that aren't "normal" and I like to know what it is when I'm hearing it...

That would be your gears binding because you went into them too early

The rattle could be from the engine....pinging because of to low of an rpm for the gear chosen.

So long story short, it can be harmful to your car. Which also means skip shift is harmful for your car. Don't know about u guys but everytime skip shift goes from 1-4 I get the bogging/rattle. The rattle seems to come from the shifter area. Bearing maybe?

Same thing with Starting in 2nd, unless I give it a good rev first...

Unplug skip shift and don't worry. Most likely nothing wrong with yours.

I'm kind of liking the idea of skip-shifting into 3rd instead of 4th, even though the coyote has the torque to hit 4th at 17mph, I really do feel that it's kind of early for 4th. I'm kind of old school, on my old 4 speed f100 with the I6, I'd do 1-2 at 10, 2-3 at 20, and 3-4 at 30

I sometimes do 1-3-5 when driving easy. Works perfectly and smoothly. 1-4 is just way too much of a jump IMO

Also is regards to the bogging noise I was asking cause sometimes I'll stay in 3rd when doing a lazy stop at a stop sign and get the same sounds. Just wondering of this was causing any harm.

When an engine pings or rattles under load, it is not good. Once in a while is no problem but doing it all the time is bad.

Hm guess I have to make sure I downshift to a lower gear then.

So then how do people say they always start in second gear with no issues?!? I have 373s and it happens everytime I start in 2nd unless I really give it a good rev which then makes it pointless to start in 2nd anyway...

Yep....starting in 2nd requires a bit more rpm and clutch slipping to get rolling. Some start in 2nd so they eliminate one shift so soon. I prefer 1st....then I will skip a gear if I feel the need. So far, skipping gears has not made me rich from the gas savings......and I bought a manual so I could shift....

Can Skip Shift be de-programmed at the dealer? (You know. . . pulling plugs, warranty denials...that sort of concern..on my part)

Getting a tune is the only way I know of de-programming it....then the warranty may go out the door. Just unplug it......so easy.....see no possible warranty issues.....Ford knows mine is unplugged and has no issue.
