2010 Mustang Tail-lights and Spoiler Uncovered.
You really have to wait and see the whole car uncovered to see how it all works and comes together. Now if it is definitely going to have 400 horsepower, I think the looks will grow on everyone quick! Myself included...
Don't like the lights - but its a trade off for getting hips and something that can be fixed at a fairly low cost on the aftermarket I'm sure.
Won't matter for me - I'm probably not upgrading until 2012-2014.....

Okay I was set on an '09 and now even more so. I can always upgrade in 2012 assuming someone doesn't find the supposed cure for cancer but inadvertently turns everyone into vampires...
Plus it will take at least that long for this styling to "grow" on me...

You can't see the styling from this. It's like choosing a girl from a dating service by only checking out a snapshot of her nose, or one eye, or one...well, you know.
It may not make sense by itself, but you need to see the whole car together. If I were you, I'd wait until the LA Auto Show in November, travel down there and see it for yourself. If you still don't like it, pick up an 09. They will be really trying to push them off the lots then, and you'll get a great deal.
From what I heard, the 2010 is worth the wait. It's not a whole new car, so don't expect it. The guys I know who work @ FoMoCo say it's like redoing your kitchen and replacing all the appliances with aluminum Viking ranges, granite countertops, and new oak cabinets with recessed lighting, but you leave the layout the same. Its all new pieces in pretty much the same places. It won't freak you out like an all-brand-new car, but it takes everything good about the current car and turns it up a notch.

my 2 cents... I am sure the new body will grow on me... It's a Mustang after all...
I remember first seeing the '05 model and drawing back in fear. Needless to say it has definitely grown on me. I think we should take what we've seen so far with a grain of salt. Think about how much bare body we have actually seen. Headlights, greenhouse, a fair amount of the interior, partial taillights, and perhaps another 2% of the body. 400 horses isn't going to sell itself, Ford knows this; so I think we should hold confidence in their ability to improve the overall design. Many flow lines still lay underneath the rest of the camo'ed body, which could additionally be hidden by padding to throw us off.
Here it is as a "coupe":

And I swear those two lumps have to be phonebooks or something. It just doesn't look right, design-wise:

It looks to me like those tail lights are the same exact shape as the current ones. It would be easy enough to retrofit some 05-09 lights so it's not a deal breaker for me. Besides, I plan on keeping my current ride and adding a 2012 to the stable. Gotta make sure they work out all the bugs first. ;-)
I actually quite like the European version of our tails. They accent the black paint very nicely. If Ford has to do some funky blend, then I would rather them do it more like the Euros.
