Ain't that always the way.

But then, you ought to know that by now.

I'm in the same boat. I really want a Bullitt, but it sure is looking tempting to just wait. Of course if I keep waiting to get the next best thing, I'll wind up with nothing...

What is this going to do to the pricing? A current GT/CS with HIDs is exactly what I want, but I wouldn't be able to order until early next year because I don't have the cash right now. If the '09 is out of production by early next year, that would seriously wreck my plans.

A nicely optioned GT is currently in my price range, but if the '10 GT comes with a 5.0L and all these other rumored upgrades, I fear it will be out of my price range.

The current Mustang model lineup is almost perfect, with a base model, a great mid-priced/mid-range model (GT), and of course the top-line models.

My concern based on the rumors here is that the 2010 models will mirror the Challenger offerings, which means more expensive across the board with a crappy/uninterested base model, a slightly-too-expensive mid-range model (I expect the Challenger R/T and rumored 5.0L Mustang to have a base price above $30K), and of course an out-of-reach top-line model.

I hope I'm wrong, and that Ford keeps the 2010 pricing in line with the 2009 models, with similar levels of equipment and options (HIDs, etc.).

My local ford dealer send me a mail to say in resume :"hurry up, the 2009 mustang will be available in july, come check out the new version", so the 2009 is very early. Did they want to finish the stock early for an early out of the 2010 model ?

this is giving me a headache. I just started liking the newer model last yr after being upset with the changes they made and rejecting it. After driving one, i couldnt imagine going back to my 2004. Ford has made the newer mustang model better everytime...im just dreading having to have something else to compare my mustang to. Hopefully its nothing I will be missing out on. I'm not ready for so much change again, it seems too soon! lol

btw.... thank goodness for after market parts lol

June is the typical J1 launch with cars arriving at dealers in July. The '10MYs are rumored to be on an even earlier launch.

Hate adding speculations...seems feasable..but who knows.
But rumor has it 2009 is the last of the GT500's (Owners want Exclusivity)
2010 will start the GT350 model (launched with Ecoboost Turbo@350HP but that could change to N/A 5.0 before hand)
Top Dog will be the Bosses. Boss 302 (5.0) Boss 351 (Turbo 5.0) Boss 429 (TT 5.0 may use Twin Force Moniker)
Don't worry Shelby will also be working on a modern day Cobra

Black Jade Anyone?

My thinking on this is that the original run of GT500's was 3 years (67,68, and 69 leftover 69's were 70's) The GT350 had a longer run (65-70) therefore not as collectible. If I just spent $80K+ on a GT500KR I would be somewhat annoyed if in a year they show up with an even better beast.
The problem would be that most GT500 owners would sell their current (07-09) cars for the next best thing. With the GT350 showing up owners with a lot of cash will keep their GT500 and add the GT350 to their collection too.
Thus keeping the GT500, GT500KR and GT500SS a future keeper.A win win situation for Ford and the customers.

And I believe that's exactly what Ford has in store for the future. The GT500 has had a good run to the point of not being special anymore. It's time to wear out some new names like the GT350 and the various Bosses and Mach1. That way, all the different engines will find a home in these SE's which will later trickle down to regular Mustangs and make the cars somewhat exclusive. Ford has to think up ways to stimulate the market and this just may be the answer before CAFE spoils it all.

All I know...

If the 2009 Fusion gets Tuxedo Black and Blue Alcantara Suede Inserts, the 2010 mustang better get those options too!

Posted on BON 1/30/2009 is the last date of production for the 2009 Mustang.

The date is from a memo from Ford to dealers updating production & order dates.

Updated some info.

Also, it could be the timeframe for this car is 3 model years, especially with the GRWD platform coming.

Autoblog reports that Peter Horbury mentions that ford is reducing the time between model changes from the 5 year to 3 year.
