Sounds like good news, a 6 speed auto will be a great improvement, especially if it has a significantly higher torqe rating than the 5R55S.

To be correct, the 5R55S auto that is used in the Mustang is assembled in Ohio, using a lot of parts made in France, which is why it had France listed as country of origin.

2011MY seems to be the way to fly.

2010 seems to be old powertrains (with ups in HP we assume)
and 2011 makes way for the killer combo

The 5.8 was shelved and only the 6.2L remains (it does however have the ability to got that low, or high as 7L if I'm not mistaken) This is all from online info though.

The 5.0 is derived from the 4.6 mod motor and addresses its shortcomings apparently
If they are going to spend all that money on re-tooling for newer optimized blocks then they need to give is back the 4" bore ... PERIOD.

Nice looking body style. I think they should give us the 71-73 ram air hood as an option along with the 69-70 style shaker. I don't like that GM-style coowl hood on a Ford. I just hope they don't short-change us with the hood like they did on the 2008 BULLITT (amongst short-changing us on the engine selections). They had the chance to sieze the moment with the 2008 BULLITT and they blew it.

I still would like for them to offer a SPRINT package (like the cocnept that was passed around in here for a while) for 2009 in this current body style. If they did I'd buy it if the price was comparable to the GT/CS.

Project 777
7L, 700hp @ 7000 RPM (not 700lbfts)

Engineering exercise on a BOSS 7L
Nothing more....just proves its possible.

It ran in the 9s IIRC (in a 2005+ car)

What's the big deal about a 4" bore?

If you got to ask that question then don't worry about it. I don't have the time to line someone out on that (again).

Its a joint-dev project with Roush, pushing the limits of the Boss/Hurricane architecture. No production plans currently.

That pic is very close to what you'll actually see albeit the SE model. Just more aggressive that's all. More angular and such, which Ford stated way back. Looks good!

Boomer's correct--a 7-liter V8, probably SOHC with two valves/cylinder, that Don Bowles and Jack Roush were dragracing for Ford in an S197. It did turn 9.4s naturally-aspirated, but the block cracked on a low-eights run (still naturally-aspirated?) some weeks/months later and blew up on the next run. I've heard no more about it. It's gotten coverage with pics in "Mustangs and Fast Fords" or "5.0 Mustang" or some Mustang-specific dragmag.

I haven't followed it closely--info is damned scarce. If you find anything about the "777", please post it here!

Where this engine fits in the grand scheme of things is anybody's guess...My guess is that it was a prototype version of the rumored truck 6.2 V8--hence the low-tech 2-valve SOHC heads. Whether there were any additional blocks was not stated, and Roush had nothing about it on their website when I cruised through it early last month.
