2010 GT500 Full interior shots and rear valance slip
SVT wasn't too successful neither of you were convinced enough to buy one...
jsaylor said it well in post #47 above.
"I always felt the emphasis on the SVT moniker was misguided, particularly since it often came at the expense of more storied badges."
I bought my FORD 2008 GT500 in spite of the Shelby & SVT badges, not because of them.

LMFAO Looks like you are the one gasping at straws!

DESPITE:
–preposition 1.in spite of; notwithstanding.
It would help you to know what you are talking about before you start nit picking about what others are saying...

That's one sharp looking interior! I'll be disappointed if we see another SRA on there. There's no excuse for Ford not to give it an IRS. But given the fact that this is a "refresh", it looks as if the SRA is there to stay. Regardless, it'll be a hard to sit out on this one til 2015.

Again, you and Jsaylor's arguement doesn't make sense. AMG, M///, Cadillac's V, etc. are all sucessful at selling niche performance cars. SVT failed simply because Ford didn't invest in the brand. Ford has a tendancy to do this (Lincoln and Mercury for example).
Actually my definitions/contexts are correct.
To Spite means 'Malice', 'ill will', 'nastiness', 'unkindness', 'grudge'
To Despite means 'regardless of', 'not considering', 'not withstanding'
A dictionary won't tell you how to use those words and in what context.
But carry on why SVT sucks despite the fact that you drive one....

I didn't buy one because there is no new SVT vehicle. The Shelby GT500 sucks frankly. It's way too heavy and I am no paying 45K for a SRA. I will be in the market for a new car in about a year and will be heading straight to my local Chevy dealer, unless the 2010/2011 Mustang is a homerun.

It's just been a little slow the last few years with only one model, the Raptor is supposed to be an SVT, and they have a third unknown vehicle coming out too.
Vehicles were just not badged SVT in the car name.
The Ford GT, was an SVT car
The GT500...SVT car (it actually would sound sillier... Ford SVT SHelby GT500 Cobra)
I remember when those were originally thrown around, until they just went with Shelby GT5000.
Raptor...SVT...
They did get downsized IIRC, and the Ford GT project had lots to do with that.
That project hurt them financially I recall.

I am still wary of the head lights. But, I dig the interior. Overall, I will be waiting for a 350-400hp SE(2010MY?) or the GDI V8 for 2011MY.
No way am I waiting another 5 years for the Redesign & IRS. Maybe I will trade in my 2010/2011 for it?
I'm sorry but I find it really amusing that you express such hatred for the name and badging of a car yet you spent a SIGNIFICANT amount of money to own one....and then complain about it.
So with your statements I can assume that you have completely debadged the car and removed all the offending nameplates and references everywhere on the car? I mean if it is causing you to lose sleep at night and go on internet rants over it....surely you have corrected the situation by cleaning up your own car? I mean it would be somewhat hypocritical to drive around a car with pride and showing it off if the mere mention of the cars name so greatly offended you.....
Let me rephrase that.....SVT isn't being operated in the same capacity as before. The core principles have changed since Colletti left and the group was bascially downsized. The last SVT vehicles were built as well rounded performance cars. The GT500 has one thing in mind and forgets about guys who like to take turns.
As a reminder, do not post pictures taken from Jalopnik that have the watermark of @KGP Photography. Place a link only. This is at the request of the owner of the pictures. If you guys keep posting them we will just have to close this link as I (and others I am sure) are getting tired of editing the thread.

Keep in mind Coletti did have some input on the GT500 and the S197.
He retired in 05 though, so he started it, but probably wasn't around to see the finished product. (wondering if it had an IRS when he was around
)
He actually mentioned that he didn't care what it was called...cobra...GT500.
The car was the star.

Ford did it to themselves. In general, Ford builds cars that the market doesn't want. If they would listen to customers and actually track trends in the industry, times wouldn't be tought at Ford. The future does look bright though in terms of new product.
SVT and the GT500 are examples of recent blunders. Like I said earlier, if the 2010/2011 Mustang isn't a homerun I am buying a Vette.

Both cars have what I need. Speed and handling.
However, I am feeling good about the new Mustang.
