13'-14' Track Pack Burnout
13'-14' Track Pack Burnout
Anyone doing a 2nd gear burnout in there track pack mustang?I only have 800 miles on my 14' GT so before i beat on it too bad it would be nice to know if it's ok to do.
Yeah, my 2005 GTO was on it's THIRD set of rear tires by 16,000 miles. I also live in the Washington DC bubble. It's not like there's oodles of free open country road for me to do that stuff. Usually the car is barely driven Mon-Fri as I commute to work now, otherwise before it was sitting in traffic during the week, and then we'd get out of town and go on nice trips on the weekends.
I've been wanting to get crazy, but it's not in the cards.
Heck last weekend was also the first time I tested the 1/4 mile in track apps. I botched the launch and somehow managed to botch the 1-2 shift so I aborted that run. I'm glad that it's a vert, and I can't run it at the track, I'd be way more inclined to go nuts with it.

Every time I warm up my drag radials at our local dragstrips, I do a 2nd gear burnout. Probably done it a few hundred times now, at least. Heck, on the street I light 'em up on the 2-3 shift fairly often when I'm out having some fun in the back country. These cars are certainly built to handle our abuse!

Later I had a valvespring failure around 85k in the built motor, and cut my losses and sold it last May.
That's just the way it is when you are having fun with your car Danielle. Stuff breaks, you fix it, more stuff breaks, same cycle. Then you get an awesome vert and things change a little.
When I lived in upstate NY there were lots of sleepy state/country roads that wound through the landscape; you'd just come across these gems randomly driving around. I can't remember the last time I came across a nice driving road anywhere near DC in MD.
Honestly, I think it's why I got bored of my last car. Without twisties to drive it on, or winter snow to play in, the WRX had all the daily-driving charm of a Civic. At least the Mustang makes V8 noises and can countenance the occasional stoplight standing start and rip through the first couple gears.
I share your pain. DC is flat, congested, and full of LEOs (understandably).

If I want to get anywhere to be out of the bubble and to less congested roads, it'll take me at least half an hour to get to that point.
I love living/working in the DC bubble, but man it sucks for car enthusiasts.
Awesome! Thanks for the info guys. How about friggin wheel hop?It was raining out so i got on it in first gear around a bend a little(with t/c off) and wow!! that was the first time i experienced wheel hop.My fox never did that ha ha.
I replaced my Upper Control Arm with a Steeda Adjustable to remove a great percentage of wheel hope.
