Has anyone removed the black plastic deck lid panel? I really don't like it, and would like to take it off. Is it held on with 2 sided tap or something else. Thanks,

Yea it's 2 sided tape. You *should* be able to heat it up and take some fishing wire or something of the like and be able to remove it. You will however need a new faux gas cap.

You can maybe get some idea of how to go about it from this video.

Thanks for the vid. I didn't realize the gas cap was part of the panel, that changes everything.

Good luck on removing it...let us know how you make out. Be sure to keep it in a box incase you sell the car. Any savvy Mustang shopper who knows what package they're looking at will wonder where the part went.

Thanks, but if I do remove it, the last thing I'll worry about is what the next guy thinks. I do my cars to suit me. By the way, the standard GT faux cas cap is $121, and this panel is $225 w/cap.

I have seen the faux gas caps a lot cheaper on eBay, and Tousley has them for $79.86

Just an FYI... it took the bodyshop dude every bit of 45 minutes to remove the faux gas cap from mine when they redid the stripe to go under it. He was being careful not to scratch the paint, but that thing is stuck on there like they mean it.

Try a coupla cans of freeze spray.

Many adhesives give up at very cold temperatures and it might just let go.
