the 06 turned 4 already...
32k miles now, still as much fun to drive as the day I was finally handed the keys after 'the wait'.
Sadly it dont look as goood as it did then, dinged it up and didnt have the time/funds to finish fixing it up- new hood still in primer, the new fenders still in the garage, and now its parked for the winter- hopefully by spring it will be back looking like it should
primered hood/scraped fender or not, still a good looking car, still a absolute joy to drive. To anyone else out there with a stick- highly suggest changing to the Royal Purple tranny oil...I kinda fried the second synchronizer powershifting at the track, wouldnt shift at over 4k, locked out often in normal driving...after changing the oil(after reading suggestions by some folks in here) immediately third falls into place, and within a hour of driving, second is better than new somewhow...the old oil was clean, but I put up with the balky second gear for almost a year, was going to get a newtakeoff tranny, then figured try the oil, what the heck...never believed the snakeoil claims before, but no BS, the stuff is night and day diifferent feel to the tranny now- cant believe second is apparently 'fixed'...maybe the synchro was just burned/glazed over or something, but you would never guess now- and gotta admit to powershifting it still occasionally- yeah its rough on it, but its just too much fun
before the 09 ever gets flogged it will get the RP oil in the gearbox, guaranteed. Might very well be a transmission saver.
Cant believe 4 yrs already went by, and still just a total blast to drive. Ford REALLY did a great job on these cars. Cant believe the 09s been sitting there over a year too already- its up to 3.7 miles now from moving it around the driveway

Hard to believe 4 years has passed.
My '06 is in the garage for the winter still under 10K mi.
I plan to keep it forever, the color and the body style are just sooo good.
In the next year or so, I plan to buy a 2nd Stang for daily driving.

Good to hear man. I have been thinking about making the switch to royal purple as well. My car has never seen a track and I take it rather easy with shifting, but Its nice to hear how well the stuff works.
When my CS gets paid off its going under the knife for a 5.4 4V swap and a nice set of twin 76's.
A man can dream can't he?

I must support the Royal Purple claims. It's 'spensive, but it pretty much fixed my 2nd and 3rd balking issues too! It's better when the trans is warmed up, but even cold, it wants to shift now as compared to before. I'm sold on it!
I must also support the "Still have that tingly feeling all over" or whatever you want to call it... Awesome makes me smile every day just lookin' at her. And then drivin' her. And then lookin' wistfully over my shoulder as I have to go to work... dammit.
But I know she'll be there waitin' for me, and we can go trompin' about some more.
/Only thing is... sometimes Ride, the Pacific Coast, wants an outing... and Awesome doesn't like it, I just know it.
//Poor Awesome...
///Poor Ride...
////But I'm a winner, I got both.

those wheels look a lot like the 2010- looks good on there
my poor 06 is covered in snow...got more garage space than house space, but held on to too many cars, so a few get to sit in the weather. I dont worry much about cold/snow, long as the car never sees salty roads, snows no worse than rain IMO...but hate to see it just sitting there for a few months- usually we get breif warmups/rain to wash away the salt, if the roads get clean/dry, it gets a few miles over the winter, but otherwise I'm cruisin in our rusty old 98 windstar...its been a decent van, but salts got its teeth into it pretty bad, and its got oil in the antifreeze, aint about to put headgaskets on it- run it till it drops(do change oil every 1k or so) hope it keeps rolling till springtime.

Congrats! I've had my '06 now for about 3 years and 4 months and still puts a huge smile on my face when I look at it and get behind the wheel! She just turned over 93K miles earlier this week and still runs very strong and the interior is holding up excellently! Ford did do a good job on the S197s!!!!!

I have only 4500 miles on my '09 GT/CS right now and it's 14 months old... Man that went by fast... Nice to see that these cars weather pretty well. I have had no issues thus far and am waiting to pay it off before I heavily modify it... =)

Hey Steve,
Nice car! I see you have the quarter window louvers... I have a quick question... How do you clean the quarter windows with those on? Are they removable once installed? I can't stand dirty windows...
Thanks

My '07 has just under 76K. Double up on the job that Ford has done on the S197s -- had my car in for some work and the mechanic goes, "Wow. Did you know you car has 75,000 miles on it? It don't look it.'
I drive it every day...no, I didn't know it had ANY miles on it...

Thanks, Those are applied on with the 3M tape so they are not removable, I can see out of them very well and when I clean the window I can get my finger in the slots to clean as far as I can reach in .You cant really see any dirty window with them on. I got mine from Hubcapsplus.com painted to match for 180.00, they fit perfectly and the color match is right on, I love the retro style

Good to hear!
Mine's just over 2 years, 3 months old w/ 22k on the clock. ..with the exception of acouple rock chips (she was my dd for 2 Jersey winters) she looks as good, or better, then new. Love the car and get a huge smile on my face everytime I take her for a spin. Hands down the best vehicle I've ever owned!
