I just got back from the dealership. I turned down 2 deals before striking the one I struck. My '01 Escape is going in favor of a '08 Escape Limited. This truck is really really nice. I'm picking it up tomorrow. Black with camel interior. Nicely equipped with power moonroof, 6 disk cd/changer with ipod input tinted windows, power everything etc etc. My biggest complaint is the trade value on my '01. I know, trading vehicles in is a bad deal. I'm just not into having a bunch of people come to my place and try and get me down on pricing etc. In some situations you have to, but in this one I elected not to sell privately.
I will keep everyone informed on how the new truck goes. If it's anything like my '01, I will be delighted. I had not a single problem with this one. I did brakes twice I believe, and 2 sets of tires not including the stockers and oil changes. It was dead on reliable.

This truck is so much more refined and solid than the original. You feel as if you're driving a more expensive vehicle. Incidentally, this one cost the same amount as the one I originally had. Pretty nice considering it's 8 years later give or take a few months.
My wife just got one. She got the 2 tone blue and gray. Same options. She traded her 05 F150 in for it. I was hesitant at first but it's a nice little vehicle and actually feels more peppy with the v6 in it than her F150 did with the v8, and with the 3% interest rate and better gas mileage I think she did OK.
I've had people make favorable comments to me on the truck 2 out of the 3 times I've been to the car wash with it. Both people were current/last Escape/Tribute owners.
When I went back to pick up my registration, the sales guy told me he sold 16 of these new Escapes in May alone. He showed me a list of them so I know he wasn't using the manure spreader on me. It's an excellent start for the new Escape.

This is probably the one time I will advise against owning a Ford. We just have to face it. Ford didn't execute well on the Freestar. The Japs have the minivan market locked up. The only american player is Chrysler and their marketshare is shrinking. Honda makes the best minivan with Toyota coming in second. The Mazda looks cool but I believe if you compare it to the others, it won't compare.
congrats. Did you look at the edge at all. My Daughter has shown some intrest in them. I have to agree honda = top dog in the minivan dept. Altho my neighbors have had zero problems with theirs... well except for the deer they hit
I did look at the Edge, and honestly if I went that direction, I think I probably would've gone with the Mazda CX-9. My luck with Mazdas hasn't been great in the past so not sure I'd do that. Not only that but the pricing on the Edge while fair in that marketplace was a bit out of my reach at this point. Once I saw this one in person and drove it, I was impressed enough to give it the knod.
