Four New Cars at Frankfurt
About the only way I could see a new RWD Capri working is if Ford had Mazda build it on the MX-5 platform. They'd much rather sell the next Mustang in Europe than put money into another Ford-branded coupe on the same platform with a less-sell-able name.
I'm staying optimistic about the Capri/Focuc Coupe. FWD is nothing to be feared these days if done right.
Probably not even close to the real vehicle, but I must say I like this rendering.

I don't think it's that simple, since Europeans want a sports car, not a muscle car, meaning no live axle, not big V6 or V8, top class interior ... And market for those types of vehicles is barely existing, I just don't think it will pay off financially to spend that much time and money on a car (Capri) which won't sell in big numbers.
They might as well do what Volkswagen have done with a GTI and Scirocco.

Unfortunately sports car is a much to broad description these days. I dont consider a Mustang a "sports car" since a sports car to me is something like a Boxter or Cayman. Even Corvette, the 911 and Viper stretch the definition of sports car and I certainly dont consider a Camaro, Challenger and by any defintion nor a Charger. The GTI and the Focus ST wouldn't qualify as well.
