That is awesome!
I would LOVE to see an awd coupe turbo/super charged version of the Fusion (Hopefully with the newest 6 cylinder Ford engine).

This is a picture of the F-Bomb that Doug made that I have referenced to many a-times as the perfect model for an SVT Fusion imo.

The Fusion has the potential of being one awesome-o car!

The talk of a SVT Fusion has been going on for a while, so I wish Ford would stop talking about it and just build it. It has the potential to be an awesome car, so I hope they do it right. Don't overprice it, make it a 6-speed manual, and give it plenty of power. The SVT Contour wasnt a bad car, but it only had 200 hp. And one more thing: make it look like the picture above.

I say let Ford design the cars & trucks but let Doug tweak them before they go to production! I bet they would definitely sell more vehicles.

That's good news... Weren't the media and a lot of people flipping out over the rumor that SVT was dead just a few weeks ago?

Only 200hp??? Name me 1 other affordable track car in 98-00 that had 200hp? The integra type r, which was the big dog back then, only had 195.

Aside from that there is a lot more that the SVTC had that made it a great car. I can still run mine with almost anything out there in autox, and my car is 1) stock and 2) 6 yrs old.

Also, SVT and Affordable, should never be used in the same sentence. SVT cars are supposed to be exclusive. The extra cost means extra goodies. If 100k people can't afford it GOOD!. Make less of them, and sell them to the people that can.

Well, the 2000 Accord had 200 hp and more torque. It may not be what you consider to be a 'track car', but it has the power numbers you're looking for (though it was a bit slower in accelleration). 200 hp was fine in 1998, but it won't cut it today. I think it's unfortunate that the SVT Contour doesn’t get more respect in the autoworld, because it is a nice car.
Aside from that, I never used the word 'affordable' in my entire post. I said 'overpriced'. There's a difference.
The 03 & 04 SVT Cobras may not be affordable to everyone, but they certainly weren't overpriced. I don’t mind if the SVT Fusion is in limited production and costs a bit of money, as long as it backs up the money with performance. I don’t want the Fusion to cost a S-load of money if it's just a lightly tuned stock version.

Affordable? $24,000 base price for 200 hp car is not affordable at all. For the same price people could've bought 260 hp Mustang GT.

I said "track" car. A track is a place where there are actually turns. What you are thinking of is a "strip".

The Mustang is no less a 'track car' than the Contour is. I hate to go with simple numbers, but the Contour and Mustang actually post identical .86g later grip. The Mustang is also considerably faster in a straight line too.

But if you wanted a Mustang, you would have bought one, and you said it yourself: you pay extra money for the exclusivity of an SVT vehicle. So it wouldnt surprise me to find cars that put out more power for less money, because the SVT Courtour is an SVT. It's special because of that, and its a lot faster than it looks.

No offense, but you really need to get over your car. You have been making this arguement for two years. We get it. You like you car. Congrats.

I don't think it's all that great anymore. In fact, it's probably getting replaced soon. My point is that in 1998, ~200hp, and the other go fast bits, were a pretty big deal. You can't say, the so and so failed because it only made 200hp, hp standards are a lot higher now. The mustang at 300hp isn't even terribly impressive anymore. Your avg family sedan makes nearly that much or more. But such wasn't the case until very recently.

You're talking about luxury family sedans with starting price of $35,000+.

Average family sedans are cars like Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Ford Fusion, Chevy Impala, Nissan Altima ...
