Could there be an Shelby/SVT Ford Focus?

Just a thought -

I was checking out the 2008 Ford Focus Coupe online and wondered if we will ever see a Special Edition Focus... My wish would be a Turbo coupe making 250-275hp and that the car would be built by Shelby and limited to 1000-1500 units...

Any seconds on that?

Try a MazdaSpeed 3--263-hp turbo I4, manual 6 speed. S, or GT model, 22-24K. Fun, fast and affordable. It might even be economical, if you can keep your foot off the loud-pedal. (But where'd be the fun in that?)

There will not be. Reason? Cost-Benefit. In a perfect world, the brand equity created by hot cars helps your sales, so the cost of developing and fielding the SVT edition are dilluted. But the current state of Ford's finances and product portfolio can't sustain this model, people who come in and can't get an SVT Focus will just go elsewhere unless the core products are sufficiently enticing. Putting the SVT money into the mainstream products to improve and enhance them simply pays more dividends now.

Look for SVT to gain more products when the market share starts going in the right direction. When that time comes, I'll take a GDI I4 TT with AWD

Yup, otherwise any hopes for a measure of affordability and greater production numbers will go out the window.
