2016 Ford GT???

According to C&D the GT was started at Saleen then shipped over to the Wixom plant for engine and trans installation and final assembly so that it could still be called a Ford....
It also sounds as though Ford had help designing and engineering the GT as well.

The GT is all Ford. Bill Ford, grandson of Henry 1 gave the green light to build this car in tribute to the company's greatest accomplishment(s) for their hundred year anniversary....win in motor racing on the world stage, and, beat Ferrari's *** off.
Camilo Prado, a friend of mine, was chief designer of the modern Ford GT and was an employee of the company during that time. Yes they did source parts and some expertise(subcontractors) but in the end it all came together at Wixom. I'm a GT Forum guy and can tell you the scuttlebutt over there is, and from very reliable sources, this a rumor only, and in all likelihood not going to happen, which is really a shame since Ford would missing a golden opportunity.

I feel like it ruins the whole project. With build numbers so low, and not a full blooded FORD project, it won't get the publicity or be remembered the way the the 05-06 GT was. Think about the outside SE mustangs that were a super low number production and forgotten about 2 days after the press release. Only the true factory committed cars stand the test of time.

Great news, can't wait to see this and the onslaught of upcoming performance vehicles. Wonder if this new "GT" successor will take any styling cues from the old GT90 concept, would be BA!
