2016 Ford GT???
All of the major car magazines are reporting that Ford will debut a new Ford GT for the Detroit Auto Show! How was this kept secret for so long if it is indeed true? I hope if this is true that Ford can keep this as a long running model this time around. We all know how much the Camaro has benefited from Corvette technology.
Some are saying a supercharged V8 others are saying a reworked ecoboost 6 with 600hp!

Here's the article from road and track, 2016 makes sense since it's the 50th anniversary of the first Le Mans win.

I kinda wish Ford would just do something completely different. The GT was nice, but I think it needs to stay where it was and they should go on in a different direction...at least in terms of style and name.
A hot turbo 6 would be cool, and a nice change of pace.

Ahem. There's tons of Honda forums out there where you can find that type of crap. The GT should have never left. Seeing one is like seeing a Sasquatch. They just didn't build enough of those phenomenal cars. Truly a display of Ford engineering at its finest.

Which it should be. It's a great car, and the fact that it's rare makes it more so.

It turns out that our sources didn’t initially see any indication of a new GT program because it’s not being done through the usual channels. It will be a *very* limited product car, of around 300 units, and built by a third-party like Multimatic. Power will come from a 3.5L Ecoboost, to maintain a connection with Ford’s sports car racing program. The car will be priced as you’d expect a limited-production 300-unit halo car to be priced.

Not really...not in my opinion at least.
I mean, I guess so, but just as much as a Lingenfelter built vehicle isn't exactly a factory car any longer. Yeah I'd still call it a "Chevy Corvette", but it wouldn't have the same feel as a factory car made entirely by GM.

The GT began assembly at Mayflower Vehicle Systems in Norwalk, Ohio and was painted by Saleen in their Saleen Special Vehicles facility in Troy, Michigan. The GT is powered by an engine built at Ford's Romeo Engine Plant in Romeo, Michigan. Installation of the engine and manual transmission along with interior finishing was handled in the SVT building at Ford's Wixom, Michigan plant.
