I'm not a huge fan of the rear end styling but overall it's a very attractive package. Very modern looking which hopefully is the right direction for a 'new' Lincoln. Hope it sells well.

Finally, after a terrible launch and delay, Lincoln sold 4,012 MKZ's in the month of April. Not too shabby.

And I believe that is more than any Cadillac model. Now let's see if the MKZ can maintain this level over the coming months . . .

MKZ crushed ATS, MKZ crushed CTS, in fact it was under a thousand units from equaling the sales of both Caddys combined. Cadillac is not Lincoln's target, they are targeting two very different parts of the "luxury" market, but I thought it was worth pointing those numbers out.

Don't start throwing dirt on Lincoln's body just yet.

I don't think those numbers will last. Their target is more Acura than any other brand.

Cadillac is targeting the more traditional luxury market where BMW and Merc sit.

"We" know Cadillac isn't Lincoln's target but the media seems to point to Cadillac in every Lincoln article.

I saw few of them on the streets; this has to be the best looking Lincoln since the early 1990s Town Car.

Saw one at the dealer and I liked it! Very good looking. Not overdone but also not plain. Loved the rear the best.

I've seen a lot in the past few weeks. Its a good sign that they've sold a lot, but my fear is this isn't just pent up demand from a botched launch. If they can maintain 3-4,000 sales per month for the next 6 months, they'll do just fine. The start is promising though.

My biggest issue is that I can still see way too much fusion on the inside. The outside does an okay job of hiding it I guess.

And the interior of the Fusion is actually pretty well done.

I don't understand the fuss and the constant sniping that the MKZ is a Fusion. It isn't as if Ford is the only manufacturer to build products on a common platform.

I am not a not an MKZ fan--I don't find it appealing. I am/was a fan of the MKR. If Lincoln ever brings it to market I'm sure someone will comment--yeah, but it is just a 4 door Mustang.

No, Ford is not the only one; Ford just does a poor job compared to other successful manufacturers. If you take Volkswagen Golf and then Audi A3 for a test drive, you’ll never be able to tell that they share aplatform. Because they don’t look anything alike and they don’t drive anything alike either. That’s because Audi goes through the trouble on making bigger design changes other than just front and rear end, as well as upgrading the brakes, suspension and interior.

Ford – Lincoln … Not so much. Ford did a great job to make MKZ different than a Fusion, but has done a horrible job on the rest of Lincoln’s lineup. Take a look at the MKS for an example … It looks exactly likeTaurus and judging from my past experiences with Lincolns, it probably drives like one too. So why would anyone spend $14,000 more on a MKS instead of buying a Taurus?

Ford needs to use the strategy from the 2013 MKZ on the rest of Lincoln’s lineup too …

Even so I can see way too much fusion on the inside of the MKZ. But the exterior is great.

It works on the silver car, but that would be an odd look for most other colors.

Borrowed these numbers (and faintly remembered your post (or a post) regarding MKZ numbers) from akirby on BON . . .

Lincoln MKZ August sales - 3652 (shared platform) $750 cash incentives, $44K net MSRP $566/month 39 months lease including down payment (amortized over 39 months)
Caddy ATS August sales - 3380 (bespoke platform) $3K cash incentives $46K net MSRP $591/month 39 month lease including down payment (amortized over 39 months)

So the MKZ has $2250 more profit based on lower incentives with higher sales volume and a huge platform cost advantage.
