2011 F-150: Consumer Drive
I got to drive the entire line of 2011 F-150's yesterday at the www.driveF150.com marketing event. All I have to say is AWESOME!!!!
We got to drag race each of the F-150's against the top dogs from Toyota, Chevy, and Dodge. In the drag race, nothing could keep up with the ecoboost except the Hemi; the 6.2L Harley Davidson spanked the Hemi though. Comparing the Ecoboost to the rest of the F-150 lineup was entertaining too; it beat everything but the 6.2L...however, it would be VERY close if the guy in the Ecoboost got the jump on the 6.2L driver.
During the Eco-Challenger portion, I was able to average 26.5 mpg with the Ecoboost...not to shabby! Granted, that is at 45 mph with the cruise control set. Still...I would expect 24 mpg cruising at highway speeds.
Finally, we towed a a 6500lb trailer. It was a breeze with the Ecoboost...and I've never towed before. I passed my buddy with no problems. Trailer sway control and trailer brake control made it so easy. Also, the guy that rode with us showed us how to use the manual mode of the transmission to lock out certain gears when towing. Very handy.
Make mine a Sterling Grey or Earth Metallic SuperCrew FX2 with Ecoboost and I'm in!

I read somewhere (autoblog, edmunds, can't remember?!?) that the 5.0L is going to be $1000 more than the 3.7L; the 3.5L-EB is going to be $750 more than they 5.0L; and the 6.2L is going to be $1250 more than the 3.5L-EB. That makes a difference of only $3000 between the 3.7L and the 6.2L...Call me impressed and hook me up with the 3.5L-EB!!!
Regarding the poor mpg while towing...I punched while towing the trailer so I could pass my buddy...I think my mileage may vary...

I've driven 350's, 460's and 414 V10 over 10 years on my coffee route. When they were fully loaded, that all dropped into the 8 mpg range.
The diff is when you're not loaded or towing, the EB counters with pretty good mileage that the 6.2 won't touch.
