Well, that doesn't bode too well either, unless I'm trying to lick some insomnia problem. The 500/Taurus/whatever is a rolling Qualude and the Volvo S80 (is this another example of Ford N.A. using old Euro-chassis castoffs, i.e., the previous S80 platform?) isn't what one might consider a dynamic tour-de-force (though competent to a fault perhaps).

A DI 3.7 version with maybe 300 would be encouraging if the chassis isn't anesthetized, while a 375-400hp TT would be a truly impressive class player with a matching chassis and AWD.

I will be extremely dissappointed with Ford if the DI 3.7 only has 300hp. the G37 has 330hp.

Think they're aiming for the G35's 307hp since that would be their competitor. If linc does a MKS coupe I think they could tune the "base" 3.7 to 330 or so.

ok my confusion comes from me thinking all the G cars of 2007 were G37... i didn't know that the sedan is still the g35.

IMo there is one area where the MKS has amazing potential to standout, ride quality/NVH. For those who havent been in the new Taurus the improvement in ride quality is unbelievable while handling remains at least the equal of the outgoing Five Hundred. If Lincoln gets this right I can easily believe this car could match the LS430 in terms of ride quality and on road comfort. And while people here may complain that this doesn't make for a fun car, as lexus proves every day, the above sells.

I believe that is the target for the MKS. It's not intended to be an M5 competitor.

Takes nothing more than looking at it to know that this is indeed the truth.

Now, if Ford would grow a set and build a production version of the MKR concept, they'd have something more akin to the BMW M cars.

Well, lets see what they do with the new Global RWD architecture. Sure, noone wants to wait another 3 years but if they get it right at least they'll..... get it right.....

Not bad styling, but looking at the competition like CTS and there is no comparison.
CTS > MKS

CTS > MKS
The MKS is bigger than the CTS. The comparison should be between the DTS and MKS.

And they have different aimpoints. The Caddy's clearly aimed squarely at Zee Germans, the MKS is clearly aimed at Japan.

True. Although I think Caddy has Lexus in its gun sights, too.

The IS? Sure, but that's a function of the IS trying to be more Audi/BM-like than the typical Japanese lux sedan.

Yep.

I'm really rooting for this car. It's the one North American vehicle that has a chance at beating those Euro prestige marques at their own game. By the CTS' third evolution, I think it'll stand toe-to-toe with them without caveats. The '08 is already dangerously close in several key respects and a little better in others. One of the mags just rated the CTS as a better handling sedan than the BMW 535...that's quite an achievement!

Lincoln should look across town and take a hard look at what Cadillac is doing. They could learn a thing or two.

I didn't care much for the 1st gen CTS. The interior was the biggest reason. But the 2nd gen is very nice. I like the interior and how the exterior styling has evolved. It's the first Caddy that I would consider buying.

I never liked the first-gen CTS styling, looked completely klepto. The current styling looks like it was actually deigned by an intelligent person. Not my cup of tea, that would be the Deco streamliner MKR, but much better. I think if Linc really embraces the MKR styling, though, they'll produce some really beautiful cars. Not just handsome like the MKS, I mean jaw-dropping. Hopefully the towncar replacement, the MKZ gen 2, and the eventual MKS gen 2 go down that road.
