I'm not sure if it was a good idea, but I just had to buy one replacement tire to replace my gross driver's side rear tire when I saw these for sale for a hundred bucks so I had to buy 4. Now my question is (in retrospect it would be better to ask first) do 285's fit in the front? haha

I think they do but I'm not sure, I think Al has 285s in the front, and he said he hasn't had any problems.

275s fit but really it depends on your offset. You should be ok with 285s, and if you need to borrow them I have 1/4" MM spacers on my car that you can use until it's running again. I think my 275s rubbed on the steering stops...

I think the steering stops and Cobra A-arms allow for the 275s. The V6 and GTs had different geometry. Like I said, the 1/4" spacers cured it and you're welcome to borrow them. I won't be driving this car for at least a year or two...

No prob. Of course try out your combo first, lock to lock, it might be ok. But my wheels are OEM 10th Anni wheels and the inner rim was rubbing on that stop on full hard turns (like pulling into a driveway). If so, let me know, come by and we'll jack up the car and they're yours for now.

How much should I expect to pay for a 01 Cobra motor or 03/04 Mach motor? Is there one that would be better/easier to swap? I can't go 99 because smog requires it to be out of a newer car than what it goes into.

Hmm, I asked myself this same question about 2 years ago. I don't know how much a 01 cobra engine go for these days, but I remember finding a couple Mach 1 engines for about $3,500 to 4K (online). As for the swapping, I would think it would be the same, since the are both 4V 4.6L v8.

Here's a link to some info comparing the 99-01 Cobra to the 03-04 Mach

Check MPSautosalvage...I've been down this thought path many times, and still haven't done it.
