I don't think those have the same suspension, and I know alot of the suspension components transer over to the FFR coupe. Pretty much you need almost all of the 79-04 mustang to build the replica, so a mark VII wouldnt be ideal

I could be mistaken but from what I know from some Mark VII friends the cars drivetrain and suspension are identical to a sn95 5.0. I could be mistaken but it's worth checking into.

I've toyed with doing a Factory 5 kit before...and I resolved to get and early SN95 for the chassis....but build up my own non EFI motor....(namely a small block 427)...so you can always go that route. It might save you some $$ to buy an old non running GT.

This is the kind of info I was hoping for.

I'll check out Mark VII's for pricing and availability now that I know that. So they have the same 5.0, same out put, tranny etc? I bet that sticks in those are even harder to find in the 'stangs though. :P

No interior is used from the donor car, so that really doesn't matter too much.

Thank you

I don't think they came in stick I'm still not sure on the suspension though, how much of that is used anyhow? If they are similiar, or if they don't matter, that would be pretty sweet too

Old and not running doesn't tend to be synonymous with cheap in the long run.

One that has some aftermarket wiring would be best, but I'm not that picky.

Just got me a three link setup for free. I figure I may not need it, but it's better to have something for free, than need something in the long run that you'll have to pay for.

I am not nearly mechanically inclined enough to build an engine from scratch, but I think that the car should give me some good experience. Good luck if you ever decide on wanting to do a build. It's pretty exciting.

No one told me that you can get the 4.6 in a Thunderbird.

I found one for 400 bucks and I think I'm going to jump on it. It has a lot of frontal damage, but nothing I need is damaged and it runs. We'll see how this goes, but I'm getting very, very excited about this.

Wish me luck.

Is it a manual? If so I bet alot of the t-birds parts would work too, or at least you get a 4.6 for $400, either way it's not a bad deal if you get more or just the motor.

I came up with a plan on how to utilize the Tbirds parts to his advantage. If he goes to the 'yard, and buys whatever 5.0 parts he needs (suspensionwise) and comes back with the tbird comparable part and receipts, he loses no money (though he only gets credit back). he can use the credit over again to get his next batch of parts and repeat until the end, where he buys outright all the tranny parts. and then after THAT he junks the rest of the tbird for a few hundred bucks and pretty much breaks evenish. Might even come out on top.

And as brilliant as all of this sounds, I can't go through with the deal. Money too hard to come by at this time because of my dad's recent surgery.

Oh well, I'm sure there will be others. Just not others that are nearly s'**** tempting.

Wish me luck guys.

And in another twist of fate, the guy is alright with it taking some time to get the money together. He wants a small down (well 25% but thats only 100 bucks...) then he'll keep it for a month and a half until I have the rest and it's mine.

Basically going to save every penny I earn (can you say lunch money? ) and all the change from grocery runs I can get away with. (the parents know, it's kind of like a tip for riding my bike down when they could much more easily get in the car and get it themselves, so not stealing it :angelic: )

Somebody must be praying for me.

If you only want to spend 2500 youre going to get one with a million miles on it most likely, which is no good if all you really need is the powertrain. Go to an auction and find one with a crunched door or anything that ruins the body. Should work out a lot better...

:P Did you finish reading? That's exactly what I found him, a 4.6L Tbird that got sucker punched in the nose. Our elaborate plan to get mustang parts via Tbird and junkyard is explained above

How about I just keep it as the stock 4.6.

I'll think about selling it to you for, well the last real Daytona Coupe I heard selling was 6 million. So I'll sell mine for 7. Cheap seeing as it will be used by me.

haha

It will stay stock as long as I can beat Arin away from my wallet.

Then I'm hoping for an S/C I think that would be awesome...
