O/D problem

I have a 2000 V6,, I'm having problems with the o/d. I can push the o/d button and nothing happens, the light in the dash will not even come. Checked the fuse and made sure it was plugged up. Could I be missing something?

Have you recently removed the shifter? The wires going to the o/d button or tranny could be cut or the bulb in the gauge cluster could be burnt out.

Does the tranny shift normally....including od? Need to sort out kf it is a tranny issue or an electronic/wiring issue.

I did remove the cover when I seem it wasn't shifting into o/d with the button. The transmission does shift normal,, just doesn't shift into o/d when using the button.

I do need to check the bulb though,, I can do that when I replace the plastic over the gauges. It just seems the button doesn't work to engage the o/d. The guy I bought it from let the car sit up for 6 months, but I've been driving it for almost a year and have not replaced the trans filter. And the o/d wasn't working when I bought the car.

If the od light is off..as when you first start the car and leave the od button alone..the car should shift into od automatically. Does the car NEVER shift into od?

Could be a transmission issue......might have a shop check it out.
