Yeah, I'm really jealous. I really want to go ... But ah well Have fun, and let us know how it goes!

By the way -- No Pressure -- But make us proud.
pressure heck! Evil, you gotta beat my 13.6@104 and think about all the mach's in the low 13's stock :P

j/k man, have fun and relax. Dont drink a redbull before staging though.. you think it helps, but it just makes you much more nerveous.

Yeah, I'm not nervous at all!!

I'd rather 'low ball' my expectations, but 13.6 would be nice!

I went 13.9 with my first Capri about 5 years ago, and it had 2.73s and a '93 Cobra long block. My second Capri I ran 14.9 (auto, stock motor, 3.73 gears), and I never took the third Capri to the track.

The only things I am wondering about is a proper launch, and whether or not to shift into 4th. Like all have stated . . practice, practice, practice!

Weather should be decent.

~81 degress and 55% humidity.

Just pay attention to your redline and where you feel like peak power starts to drop. If you can cross teh traps at peak power or somewhere around it in 3rd, dont shift into 4th. if you redline 3rd, you wont have a choice but to shift before the traps which will probably not help your e/t at all

OK here goes . .

Just got back from the strip. Made 6 runs. First 4 where :notnice: . My first run ever in the Mach was 14.185 @101.27.

My best run was also my last . .

R/T - .914
60 ft - 2.097
330 - 5.586
1/8 m - 8.967
mph - 79.22
1000 - 11.624

1/4 m - 13.851
mph - 101.47

I'll take it.

Had some trouble with my launches. And on my last two runs brought the revs up to ~1900-2100rpm and it felt much better, but still got some wheel spin . . well more than some.

My 1-2 (especially on my last two runs) was VERY squirrely, but I kept my foot in the gas.

I didn't let any air out of the tires. I know I should have, but I didn't.

My mph through the traps was between 101.01 & 101.89 every run.

I had a blast, and met a few cool people.

Can't wait to go back!

Edit: Temp was ~82, humidity was 84%

I must say, you did better than I'll do when I finally get there.

I figure that the launch is the hardest part, especially with street tires.

thats pretty friggin good man!!! Let me know the elevation of the track you were at and your zip code. I wanna go and calculate that to correct it for sea level and see what your corrected e/t and mph woulda been.

Thanks!

Track elevation is 492 ft above sea level. My zip is 45241.

I figured who the heck cares. (The joys of growing older?) I wasn't pleased about my first 3 runs, though the track only had about 10 people when I made my first 3 runs so there weren't too many people to laugh at me ! I let her sit for about an hour, went out an ran a 13.92, felt pretty good, got back in line (which literally meant drive back up to the lights!) and ran the 13.851. I felt pretty good after that.

I mean if I ran a 15.something I might feel pretty bad, but heck if I went out there and ran a 12.9-13.0 in a stock Mach 1 (running only 9-10 times in my life), I might look to become a professional driver.

Anyway I had a good time and look forward to going when the Temps/humidity cool down.

Good point.

Also, I'm half planning to make it to a track somewhere come September/October here when the weather starts to cool down.

Not that it matters for e.t.'s, but your reaction time on your last run was similar to how mine used to be . Was that one of your higher ones or is that consistent with your other runs? I'm only asking because I learned how and when to launch to get a good r/t. I average under .12, and my best ever was a .013. Just trying to help out for the next time you go back... It feels great getting such a good start and a bigger win over the next lane... GREAT RUN, THOUGH!!

We ran a Pro .500 light. My average was around .870. My best was a .553, worst was a 1.383.

I was more concerned with my launch. Though being at the track the last time with an auto and pulling consistent lights @.630 average, it took some time to feel comfortable at the line with a stick. I didn't try to load the rear, and hold onto the emergency brake either. I might try that approach next time.

Thank for the insight. I should have posted that we ran on a Pro .500 light. Might not have made me look as bad!
