Dyno Tune worth the money!?

There is a local shop around my house that will dyno tune and chip my car for ~$350. I can simply buy the diablo chip and get it programmed for $225, so is the hour on the dyno worth it?

Has anyone else had this done to their cars? what were the results?
I have a v-6 with CAI and Exhaust. Will the dyno really take advantage of the mods?

Any info will be appreciated!
Thanks!

To my understanding, true dual exhaust on a v-6 will produce some fairly significant hp gains (~6-8 from what i've heard). If you have a dual exhaust setup, a dyno run might be interesting, although you dont have a stock baseline to compare it to. Still, it will probably help with the tuning of your car.

If you still have single exhaust, the system will probably yield more in the way of audio results than power gains. If you have an extra $125 laying around, you might want to consider the dyno, but that's a good amount of money. unless your really concerned with performance, though, I think i would skip it, but that's just my opinion.

I can't speak for everyone, but I went to just a Dyno day with a local mustang club. I was the last guy to go and I guess the dyno guy was feeling nice. We were only supposed to get 3 runs with A/F for $60. Since no one else was around by that point, he let me stick around and he gave me a couple extra runs, plus he tuned my car some. I had a canned tune from JLT/DTP. I have since added an X-Pipe and a electric water pump. But the dyno guy squeezed 9 more RWHP . He said he could have gotten a few more if he had some more time. I did not complain. All that for $70.

Plus if you get the A/F you can tell if you are runing too rich/lean or just right.

it is totally worth it...no canned tune is perfect. every car is different and you will with out a doubt get more h/p and be safer with a dyno tune

what kind of shops work that cheap? I have a 2003 cobra conv and went to the best tuner ,laroccas in englishtown and it was worth every dollar.& runs on the dyno and he tuned it so precise to give you safe power. Some idiots brag horsepower numbers and are running way too lean showing about 35 more ***** bad for the engine, and if you tach 6500-7500 like i do you dont want problems. Dont waste your money on achip, every car runs diff depending on what mods.
