With the ones going into the fender well you also have a bigger chance of getting water sucked into it, whole reason I won't buy one of them.

My filter sits right under the top of the fender, pretty much where the stock silencer once sat. way far from the ground and sucking water in. I have never heard of anyone I know of sucking water in unless it was really close to the bottom of the car ( which is totally stupid) but it the filter was only damp from rain getting real amopunt of water in they must have drove it into a lake. the car gets air in from the fender area from the factory and even the march systen if you use the snorkle has the scoop right under the front bumper area, it's down side was sucking in leaves and crap into the air box but people drove them in the rain. imo there is a bigger chance of sucking in hotter engine bay air with the under hood filter set up vs a fender mount ( granted some years/cars this is the only way but then I don't call them cai since there is nothing cold/cool about engine bay air).

My cheap ebay one I had years ago went down a little, but not to much. Hell, I even drove though probably 2 ft of water with it (blew my exhaust off trying to get through) and it was fine.
With the amount of people that have them, I feel like them sucking up water is a freak occurrence.
