1995 taurus engine will it work?

Will a 1995 Taurus 3.8 v6 fit into a 1996 mustang 3.8 and will it use the same ecu. What will have to be changed?

I doubt it, without changing a ton of things due to the front wheel drive nature of the engine.

Would be much easyer to find a mustang 3.8 and put that in. or better yet get a 4.6 or 5.0 in there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the taurus has a 3.0 I believe. Now if its out of a thunderbird it will work, but you would need the ecu.

Most were, but a few did still have the 3.8.

3.8 was an option. I have heard of the people swapping in mustang 3.8s into thier blown 3.8 tauruses. the blocks are the same but there are still differences, headers, small stuff and accessories are for sure a swap. The ecu isn't going to swap ( OBD1 vs OBD II for starters ). If you find a later split port then even more stuff has to be done, spliced and changed.

imo like stated perfect excuse for a V8 swap, you are looking at alot of work for small hp.

what is the current issue with your motor that you need the swap? just curious.

basically you would be using the other motor for only what is good. just like taking a truck motor, or another engine from another platform that works in your car. you strip down the donor motor and your motor, swap over everything needed from your motor over to the new motor and drop it back in, plug your harness in,etc. if you can use the intake great, if not due to the fwd design then swap your intake. you are for sure going to have to strip all of your accessory brackets from your motor and swap them. no need to touch ecu.

imo, don't waste your time and save your $100.

If needed later 3.8s can be had with low miles for decent prices, even if you had to do a split port swap that isn't hard and is do able also. if nothing is wrong with motor now then wait.

Yeah no reason to waste 100 bucks on that engine.
