Cai help!!

Bought the cai from AM for a 1996 v6. Should it make a whistling sound? If not how do you fix it?

The whistling should just be the more air being sucked in through the crack between the hood and the fender! Most people like that sound!

Is that really what that is? I call it my supercharger cause it whines a little lol.

The CAI you bought, does it fit into the fender or just sit in the bay still?

It sits in the fender. Can I shorten it and bolt the filter right onto the maf sensor?

That would kinda defeat the purpose of having it though.

Your right, that's what it is. Way back when I had one on my 99, it made that noise too.

I don't see how you can get cold air with it sitting in the engine bay.

Local guy changed his maf and moved his filter from the fender to engine bay and gained 80 RWHP on his SC saleen.

With the ones going into the fender well you also have a bigger chance of getting water sucked into it, whole reason I won't buy one of them.

Did he get a tune after doing that? That seems like a fairly big number .

He got it retuned after doing so. It first made 366, then replacing the maf with a larger one and moving the air filter it dynod at 460.

I'm not sure that moving the filter helped a whole lot, but I guess it could be possible.

Probably not, my money is on the tune mostly and the maf.

Yeah its a new edge saleen, stock 2v bottom end with a 2.1 kb supercharger at 15 psi. Said the tune is conservative

I will never again have a car with a CIA in te fender well. During a down poor I got water in it and it got into a piston and ceased my motor, dumbest design ever.

Short of taking out one headlight, its the only halfway safe way to get cold air. Not having it in the fender well or under the bumper makes it an even more pointless mod.

Mine won't be in the fenderwell, but I will be getting air from there. I am using a c&l intake tube, and jlt heat shield.
