A/C Recharge Kit - Used it?
#1
Okay, being the cheapskate I am, I'm thinking about buying the $20-40 "do-it-yourself" recharge/reconditioning kits to get my A/C back to keeping me cool. Mine's a '98 GT, but I'm assuming the A/C units are the same on all models.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Thanks Joker, good to hear. I figured, after reading some of the manufaturers notes online, this was something I could tackle, but was concerned about how well it worked.
Thanks again.

I get it done at my buddy's shop for $20 If it weren't for him I would do it myself on the Stang too. My father used the kit when he had his 93 Subaru. Worked great and lasted up until the day I sold it this March.

Thanks everyone! As it turns out, I did some checking on the system as suggested by Advance Auto and found that the clutch on the compressor isn't engaging. Maybe I'll have to spend some of my hard-earned money...

If you're low on freon that will cause the compressor not to kick in as well, just a thought.

The end story, if anyone cares. Seems there's something more to it than a low charge on the coolant. I checked the preasure on the system with the guage that comes with the kit and it showed a full charge. Guess I'll have to spend my hard earned money and have my mech. look at it. Darn.
Thanks for the suggestions.
