Buying advice
My son will be in the market for his first car soon and wants to drive a Mustang like his old man. I'm thinking he can afford a 2000-ish one. Anything we need to be watchful for while shopping? Thanks in advance.

I had my 2000 Mustang V6 5 speed since it was brand new. Currently there is 62,000 miles on the odometer.
Problems ...
- Anti-theft system activated while the car was in my garage at 20,000 miles. Had to pay over $300 to deactivate it.
- Fuel pump replaced at 60,000 miles.
- Will need a new clutch in about 10,000 miles.
Overall, it's has been pretty reliable although it does have pretty low miles.

Got my 96 cobra vert as a first at from my parents. It cost $7500 and 122k miles do far we put 5k into it for clutch, ac compressor, and brakes but that's it. Total we have about 8k into the car for new seats(a 17th birthday present) but other then that it runs fine and has 143k miles on it at the moment. Now you can fine anything for a really good price you just have to be looking at the right time. My dad just bought my brother his first car 1994 corvette with 2000 body kit on it for $7000 and has already put $1200 into the car in the last two weeks with it. Good luck hunting

they're definitely fun to have as a first car and not too bad on pricing...

My first personal stang was an 01 bullitt. It had 60k on the clock. I payed 7k. Its at 80k now and other than oil changes its nit until recently I've had to put money in it. Just a wheel hub assembly and ball joints. Minor problems. I've never really heard of an sn95 with major motor/tranny problems that wasn't user errors

Bought a 2000 mustang GT 5-spd. Its my first car, and first standard as well. It has held up very well and hasnt had any problems. Expect the obvious things that wear over time though. Great first car though!

Yea ive had a few stangs and my first was so clean and original with 9/10 on interior I was only 18 and just started getting into fox body's and did not realize what I had, I still kick myself for getting rid of it but I agree for an original or non molested fox they r hard to come by. If you look on craigslist for around 5k you can find them with fresh or decent paint with tons of mods, but I dunno about stuff like gauges not working, bad interior,a/c If u wanna street n strip car for 5k u can get a good foxbody.

Yea most likely it had been lol but the 302 is tuff and if something were to tear up it's generally cheap to replace. But I have bought a few and they were kinda rode hard but luckily I didn't have too much trouble.

My car saved my life too when i got hit. Alot of crumple zones to absorb the impact. Got t-boned by a guy goin 60, he hit the front portion of my door and i walked away from the accident with minor bruises. Sadly the car is no longer with us. But yea a mustang is a very dependable first car!
I've loved every minute of having mine. I do need to have the fuel pump replaced, but it's been a fantastic car.
