5.0 or 4.6 ?
5.0 or 4.6 ?
Hey all,
Still 'Stang shoppin & no hits yet, the fox-bodys keep shooting up around here so thought I would look around at the 94+, & they are more in my price range, anyway.. main question is....am I likely to run into any more issues with the 5.0 then say a 4.6l, I may have found a good deal on a 94GT thats been title 42'd, going to look at it later this week (&waiting for pix of it to post), but I was wondering how readily parts are for the 94/5's or if I should hold off for a '96 with the 4.6?
Yeah, run on sentences FTW!!
Thanks in advance for any tips/help =)

well the 5.0 is going to give you cheaper power...parts are cheaper for it..or so i have read on here.
but look at www.ninosport.com
they have everything there

5.0 all the way!
(like I'd know though!
)

I'd go with the 5.0, but the only problem with them is, if you start to mod it you MIGHT have some idle/drivablity issues, which can be fixed by "downgrading" to the fox mustang computer, not to difficult of a conversion
I'd rather have a turbo 2.3 than a stupid 3.8 non-split port junk engine
I might do this swap one day....

When and if(
) my current engine ever dies, I'd probably swap in a 2.3L Turbo!
Thanks for th quick responses, everyone..tis why I love this forum. So, if things pan out then I'll prbably go ahead with the deal..ust wanted to hear some input on the 2 engines, also.. related to this... is the current 4.6 compatible with the 96+ version? or is it a totally differant animal?
The current 4.6 is different. It is the same basic archetecture, but totally different parts. I believe the current (05+) 4.6 only shares 40% of it's parts with the older 4.6's.
Well, from 1996-98 the 4.6s were essentially the same. in 1999 a new PI head and intake system came about. Parts for these two are not always compatible. But, these motors did share one thing in common: both were 2 valve per cylinder SOHC motors. In 2005 the 2v motor was dropped entirely, and the 3v motor was introduced, So parts from there won't fit any other 4.6.
also keep in mind that any Cobra or Mach 1 from 1996-2004 will not have compatible parts due to the fact that they are DOCH, and have 4 valves per cylinder

Good Luck!!
V6s are still cool! All that matters is that it's a Mustang, unless your power hungry! (I'm dying for a 5.0 but I'll never sell!!)
Sorry to disappoint all, but no SN95 for me
BUT!!! I think I'll be alright
