I disagree totally; IUP is not worth the money. I have a black on black GT Premium and the all black interior is beautiful. I get nothing but compliments and props for it and everyone who rides in it agrees that the silver accents would make it look less sharp. An all black interior is hecka more uniform and sharp; sure, my color is cool but its not worth it. plus, i think the alluminum on the wheel makes it stand out too much and takes away from the simplicity of the cockpit. beautiful body; simple yet elegant inside; this is the way i have and like my mustang

- mike

Edit: I have the manual, but if you are getting automatic the IUP's automatic shifter looks much better than the regular black one; the black manual shifter looks hot on its own.

I think the interior should be made out of solid gold, and the seats could be made from only the finest italian leather. oh and the stering wheel should be carved from the branch of a Oak Tree in Southern Black Forests of Germany.

...That would be nice.

I like the brushed aluminun dash inserts but the MYCOLOR to me is just a gimmick...something you may use for a week or 2 and then you'll forget all about it. I got mine without the IUP and Im glad I did. I would still be waiting for my car if I went for it. I ordered aftermarket inserts and they look great! So I save a bunch of cash AND Im driving my car

flight96, your car looks beautiful ! Nice job on installing those dash trim pieces. I like the way that they came out. I know that you will enjoy it for a long-long time.

I love the IUP in mine...and I continue to use the MyColor (soon to be collector's edition?). Perhaps I'm more enthusiastic about it since I have a stereo that can color-match the gauges. I have dark charcoal interior, and love the look of the aluminum trim...I've gotten a lot of compliments on those too. The steering wheel looks great with the leather-wrapped wheel and aluminum inserts too.

However, I realize that this is a giant IMHO thread, so take it for what it's worth. Heck, a Mustang's a Mustang...I won't look down on anything. I've seen both trim levels, and either one is great.

They haven't made an interior for the '05 yet, but I am sure it's soon to come.

I went from a 2004 Mazda 3 to my 05 GT, and the Mazda 3 has a very nice interior. While mazda seemed to use nicer, shinier plastic, it also scratched super $%&#ing easy, and I think one of the reason ford uses the plastics they do in their cars is for durability.

That being said, I think the 05 Interior is beautiful, and I have no complaints, so long as it doesn't turn into a rattlefest.

Maverick128,

Is that a photoshoped image with the blue interior? I would personally LOVE a Sonic Blue with blue accent interior just like that. If I could find someone that could redo the seats and panels in nice blue leather like that quickly and not TOO expensive, I might have to rethink what color car I am ordering in February...

Why would anyone want the remains of helpless beasts for seat and wheel material? Besides, it's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Let’s get out of the Stone Age.

Just thought I’d share a different perspective. It’s ok, I don’t fit in with my vegan friends either; they are in-disbelieve that I would consider a Mustang and not some diesel VW or hybrid. You can’t worry about what makes other people happy. Make your God, family and your self happy (yes, in that order). I like the Mustang with and without the IUP, but I will be going with the IUP to get the side airbags (Switching out the steering wheel).

Happy New Year

Would you want to sell said wheel? I have no such misgivings about leather. Shame on me I suppose.

It depends on what the dealer dose, I'm hoping for a even trade.

Most of the plastic in the interior is just plain ford stuff. There is nothing wrong with it, and nothing special about it. However the parts that the IUP does upgrade are very nice.

I'm in the same boat as you MustangDan. I'm a vegan who wants side airbags (so I have to get IUP). I'm also planning on trading the steering wheel and gearshift once I get mine - I don't want some poor guy's skin on my steering wheel either.

Regarding standard dash vs IUP I agree that it's tough to go by pictures. I thought the IUP was a little tacky until I saw it in person, now I prefer it (except for the leather of course).

So you guys think cows are killed for their hides? Just a by product of that Ribeye I had last night. It makes a LOT more sense to use it than waste it. And a lot of folks just plain like the look and feel of leather vs. cloth interiors. And yes, I'll be ordering full leather on my GT in February! Peace.

Easy there brainiac; you might want to read a bit more carefully. I never commented on anyone else's choice of leather/cloth, I just stated why I was choosing cloth. I also never spoke of how much leather contributes to the demand for the animal.

Actually the interior isn't bad at all. I like it very much.. But like others have said "IUP" is a must .

For some reason the interior looks more plastic with charcoal seats (maybe because the seats and plastic is the same color) .. With red leather or parchment , it looks less plastic IMO .. Actually, with both those color seats, it looks downright great .
