Can someone please post pics of 30% tinted side windows? I want to limo the back, and quarters... thought about doing a 50-60% tint on the sides, but, not sure I want the hassle from the law.

Anyone??

Just so you know, if you put anything on the driver and passenger side windows, it will be illegal in CA. The rest are fine though, you could go up to limo tint.

And yes, I have been pulled over for tint.

When was that changed? The 30% law was passed in 1999. According to the CVC, up to 30% is legal.

Is it a fix it? I would imagine it would be... which can be expensive over time, remove, retint, repeat...

Hey JRabbitt, According to the IWFA law chart California is listed as 70% on the front side windows. There is a link to it on the 2nd page of SurfnSoCal's thread"Tinting Post Your Pics". It lists 99 as the year the law was enacted. Hope that helps ya.

Yeah I believe 70% is still the legal limit. I was also thinking of going 50-60% on my tint, as I think 70% is just too light. Hopefully some Cali people have this tint for us to see.

70% is like nothing. My dad was a cop for 20 years (in Huntington Beach, CA), and most of that was doing traffic.

He told me the easiest excuse for a cop to pull you over, is tinting. And once he has you pulled over...then he can hassle you about anything on the car. (Speeding, Exhaust, lowered too far, or even worse...presence of alcohol).

I still will be getting 15% in the back, which is legal...and 25% or 30% on the sides. But be aware that especially on our BLACK cars...any tinting will stand out...and give a cop an excuse to pull you over.

Oh... they can pull me over all day long. That I dont care about. I am a good driver, (DMV says so! LOL) and would never have alcohol in my car, (unless its in the trunk being transported).

I know being in HB its going to be worse. Rick, I will have to check out your thread... the search didnt seem to pull it up for me... but then again, I am running on very low sleep these days.

There is the link to a chart about tinting limits in ALL states. And it says that in California it's 70 in the front sides, & any on the rear sides & the back. Which I think is stupid. I mean what even the point in tinting at 70. It would basically be like having nothing on there. JMO.

In TN it's 35 all around. Yet I have 5 that's going on it. My question is how hard is it to tint the rear with the rear window defrost? My brother said I would be better off to take it to a shop for the rear instead of having him and my cousin do it themselves, which was my orginial plan.

And Jess I am with you. They can pull me over all day long too. No way am I carrying open beer in my car. Closed & in the back in a bag maybe. But open is not happening. Anyway. Make sure to post pixs with whatever you get. I also would like to see exactly what 70% looks like. It's probably not enough difference though for anyone to have had it done. Again JMO

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!

I had 38% all the way around before and never got any looks from the police.

It's pretty light though. Couple people asked if it was factory. But it still protects your interior and keeps it much cooler.

I lived in San Diego for about 29 years. Yes it was a fix it ticket but, my cop buddies would just sign it off.

Hey bud, I understand your frustration. But, putting a beer avatar next to your name and wondering why you get pulled over is not rocket science. Don't blame it on the tint dude. hahaha
