I've received my kick plates (scuff plates, whatver you want to call them) that have the chrome colored MUSTANG on them. I also just ordered the automatic shifter **** which should be in within a couple days.

I've checked with Ford and they can order me an upgraded steering wheel and install it for not much hassle.

These additions will add a nice splash of chrome color to the inside of the car (while using factory parts) that will go nicely with those retro chrome air vents and instrument panel.

However, I do have one question. I'm confused about the dash board panels. I think I read on these forums that the panel around the instrument display can be replaced easily, and the panel in the center above the radio can be replaced easily, but the panel above the glove box (and passenger air bag) was NOT sold seperately from the air bag itself and thus was super-expensive. Is this true, or did I read it wrong?

If that's the case... I may have to be happy with the scuff plates, shifter ****, and upgraded steering wheel for my interior.

Thanks as always guys!

Panel above the glove box is integral to the airbag assembly, thus is not very affordable. Besides, the dash looks nicer in black IMHO!!

Actually I'm starting to think that as well. I think the car will look really nice with the upgraded steering wheel, shifter, and scuff plates while keeping the black dash. The chrome on those pieces will really stand out.

I did the same kind of upgrades to mine last week and am very pleased with the results.
I think the black with just a few silver accents is B) IMO

I'm with you Less is more. I like the way the chrome colored rings stand out against the black dash. Besides I see too much aluminum at work.

I just wanted to ask, how much did it cost for the upgraded steering wheel and install?

The wheel lists for $190 at Ford dealer and I installed it myself. It took about 30 minutes to install, so I imagie if you had to pay someone to do it it shouldn't cost too much.

One more question, how hard was it to install? I don't have a whole lot of experience with things of ths nature, but if it has instructions and isn't too dificult I could probably do it myself.

I'm looking for some help on doing the steering wheel install myself too. The dealer qouted me 1 hour of labor, which is $70.00. I want to do it myself, but don't want to set off the airbag or anything.

Any intructions would but greatly appreciated!

Yeah, you definately need to look out for that airbag.

Tell us more about the steering wheel. I have the IUP on my GT. On the first freaking day of owning the car, a friend went to get out and jacked up a chunk of my steering wheel with a bracelet. Thinking about getting a new wheel b/c it's driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!
