Tinting! Post your pics!
how close did your tinter cut the tint around the edge of the window?
when i have my 02, they cut a line that was atleast 3/4" from the edge of the window...looked like hiney
i wont be using that tinter again...but they are the only ones in this area

Tinting makes the car look like it belongs to a drug dealer :notnice:

15% all around, 4 inch strip on the windshield.
Gotta go sling some 'caine to pay for it.

Personally, i want to be cool as opposed to looking cool. i tinted 1st for heat rejection. 2nd for looks.
another consideration was not cutting down night visibility drastically. i'm really happy i went with 40%. i saw a 35% v-kool listed recently. night driving sight is hardly impared. i hardly notice the light reduction at night.
my state permits 35% all the way around and no less for cars. coppers are cracking down on illegal tint here. i'd rather not draw their attention.
Hawaii's car window tinting law has been around for 22 years -- plenty of time, police say, for drivers to comply. But more than 9,000 violators have been cited since 2003
Now, police officers -- armed with about 100 light meters, up from 20 islandwide in 2003 -- are making a concerted effort to get window tint violators off the streets.
In January the tinting violation fine was nearly tripled from $97 to $287. Tint removal costs about $90.
FYI, Hawaii stangers: http://starbulletin.com/2005/06/13/news/story2.html
i have found V-Kool to perform just as described. Huper Optik, a similar tint has a heat light that emits 350 deg F of heat. when regular tint is between the bulb and temp. reader, it cuts down the heat by 30 deg. F. when huper optik is but in between the two, the temp plummets 250 deg. F, to 100 deg!
on a blistering hot day, i get in my sealed mustang the temperature is very low considering other cars i drive feel like ovens. and the cool down is no longer than a minute or two. very fast.
even though it's summer now, my a/c setting is usually at fan speed 1 (low). if it's real hot i'll crank her up to 2. hah. and sometimes at the lowest setting, i have to turn down the coldness button. currently we are running day temps of 90 to 91deg. F here in the middle of the pacific.
this tint mod is the best practical mod i have made hands down. note the sonic blue mirrors. another great mod for non-black '05s.
V-KOOL info:
Industry-leading technological expertise has allowed the scientists who created V-KOOL® to configure visible light transmission and infra-red rejection attributes of the coating to suit different market needs. An impressive example is seen in V-KOOL 40. While V-KOOL 75 and 70 were engineered for applications where visible light transmission requirement is high, V-KOOL 40 is darker in appearance to V-KOOL 75 and 70.
For applications requiring lesser visibility and maximum solar control, V-KOOL 40 fits the bill by offering a staggering 98.3% rejection of infra-red radiation from the sun. Again, spectral-selectivity means that while V-KOOL 40 almost completely eliminates infra-red radiation from penetrating your windows, it still allows 40% of visible light to pass through.

See the Light Without Taking the Heat.
When applied to the windows of your car, V-KOOL™ forms a virtually transparent, protective barrier against the sun’s heat. Independent testing shows that V-KOOL™ actually screens out 94%* of scorching infra-red radiation and 99% of harmful ultraviolet light, the radiation that causes skin and eye damage. That’s the equivalent of a sunscreen lotion with an SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of 200. The results are like sunshine without the heat.
By comparison, tinted, non-reflective window treatments filter out at most 15% of the sun’s infra-red heat. Tinted windows also detract from the appearance of your car. And they pose a safety danger by reducing visibility, especially at night, making it feel as though you’re driving with sunglasses on. V-KOOL™, on the other hand, is virtually transparent, so it doesn’t significantly affect your ability to see, and it maintains the integrity of your car’s design.

where can i pick up some felt to protect my tint as well
I bought mine from a guy at work, who bought it from Nicole on this site. I think she has some left because she bought like 100 feet of it. You will have to try and find her on the site.
Good luck!
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN GET A HOLD OF SOME FELT! MY TINT IS BEING SCRATCHED BY THE INNER SEAL ON THE WINDOW. If anyone knows Nicole please tell her that I will by some from her.

I was hoping we could get a thread going of pictures of 05 Stangs with aftermarket tinting so we can get an idea of what looks good, is too dark, etc.
Post pictures and % for front, 1/4 windows, and rear.
