I wasn't impressed with the shaker 500 at all when I was car shopping, so when I ordered my 07 GT I opted to stick with the stock stereo. My question is how bad is the stock stereo? Since I thought the shaker sucked I can only imagine how bad the stock system is.

 

I had the stock unit in mine for about 2 months and it really wasn't that bad. Was a little short on clarity and the soundstage was no where near as good as my Sony. But I would never say it sucked. BTW I am no fan of the sound of either Shaker systems-They do not hold a candle to the Mach 460 that was installed in an SN95 'Stang.

 

I can't imagine it being much worse, but I would think the bass has to suffer substantially.
No worries, rip it out and go aftermarket, problem solved.

 

I had it in the 05 I used to have and now I have the Shaker in the 06. Actually, I do not tell much difference at all. I am going aftermarket eventually too.

 

Clarity, bass, and treble suck. Mid's are ok though.

 

that's what I figured, I'm looking at the pioneer 6800mp and some basic replacement speakers, Crutchfield has the infinity 6x8's on sale right now. Should be enough to get me started.
