Sorta forced to get welt piping

Came out from work last week and noticed that the leather that goes around the handle on the door fell down. Well I glued up the center to hold it in place. Could not get the top where it tucks in the door to look right. So I figured the welt would do the trick. Glad I did it, I think it came out very nice. I ordered 30' and that was WAY to much. I went with the silver tinsel trying to math the IUP and my painting and satin silverhorse parts. Heres some pics.

The only problem with the tinsel is you can not do a super clean butt where it meets at the ends. Because is tinsel inside a clear casing

gotta love the florida heat slowly killing the inside of your car. my door accent is starting to sag, and the welt i had on has come off. i'm looking into replacing the vinyl piece with a nice grey suede piece, i'll post up when i get it done.

The passenger one doesn't sag now because its glued all the way to the top. Drivers is sagging though. I'm debating pulling it off to glue it. If you ever get that far. You will notice theres only glue around the top edge from stock and not the inside contact area

I did my butt right at the top of the door reflector. Not really noticable at all. Just remember to cut it just a bit longer than where it meets then you can trim it from there so that it has a snug fit at the ends. You can also insert something like a finishing nail into the hollow core to keep ends aligned and snug to each other.

haha.... yeah... I'd say 30' was plenty just to do the doors... But hey, if you messed up, at least you would have had enough to try again! Looks nice!

Thanks. Well it was only $9 more for 15' more. So it was worth it.

Thats what the guy told me when I asked about the pins that hold it together. He said tinsel doesn't use it. You need a dab of superglue because the tinsel is not hollow
