Do the billet shorty atennas that fit the older models fit the 05s? I found a 14" one that says it fits 79-04. I always thought it was the same.

What's wrong with the Mustang tuning one?

I've got the 8", I don't have any problems with it. Looks a lot better than a cut antenna. I don't have that wrap around wire, just a nice smooth mini antenna.
I have the same one. Works great.

I got the 14" one from Mustang tuning and have had NO loss in reception at all, and it looks a heck of alot better. I didn't cut the stock one because of that ugly wire wrapping down the side.....

I decided to go with an internal amplified antenna and get rid of the external one completely.

AM and FM reception is exceptional.

I bought the antanna from mustang depot ($29.95):

Agreed. Use the 20 bucks on a 12 pack & gas.

How much was the body work to cover the hole and paint?

I thin k I got a really good price on it. I had the antenna hole welded close, weld joints ground down and then painted. The CDC spoiler, the mirrors and the lower grille were all painted at the same time for only $175. The color match was absolutely perfect.

Before I had it painted, I just used an allen head bolt to fill in the antenna and had it painted black. It was almost flush with the antenna socket and looked like a retractable antenna. That was a much cheaper solution, only 5 cents for the bolt and it still looked and functioned much better then the stubby antennas.

I did my own, cut it to 14", One more tip that is not is any posts yet, if you do your filing carefully, make the size just enough to fit into the ball, and then you dont need any epoxy. A nine inch pair of Klein linemans pliers will cut it nicely. Hold the antenna ball down touching your work surface and tap the threaded end, forcing the ball onto the tip until the ball fits snuggly on the tip.
Reception is just as good as always......and it only took 10 minutes, use the $20 for your next mod.

Went with the 14' my self. It lines up almost perfect with the top of the car. Got it from Mustang tuning works great no loss in reception. Makes for a simple but nice mod.
