Ok, day 1, I hate the antenna on the Stang. What have you guys changed to, and 8" vs 14" Any preference? pros cons?
Have pics installed by chance?

These are the 2 Ive seen, I didnt care for the steeda one I found.

Any other recommendations are welcome as usual.

I just replaced mine with the topedge 8" one. All but one of my stations come in just as clear as with the 50 footer. I think the 14" might be better for any stations that arent the strongest and might match up better with the roofline. I prolly would have gone with the 14" had i seen it before I bought the 8" one, just noticed they are also now the same price. Think earlier it was like 17.99 or something.

I cut my stock antenna, perfectly in half. I have excellent reception, havent noticed any difference. It looks so much better! And I figured, if I messed it up, I could buy one anyway.

A nice write-up on HOW to do it....

I got one off of e-bay, but I think it is made by All-Sales. I went with the simple 9" polished model.

the one from mustangtuning.com is a very "you get what you pay for" type item. Fair warning (yes I have one).

I cut mine down to 14.5". I think it matches the roofline very well. I glued a Euro-style cap to the tip and it looks good. It even made it through a car wash yesterday without incident. The attendants kept trying to remove it and I just told them it was stock. No difference in reception, either.

This is who I went with - 9", bought little white o-rings (top one has already flown off). No loss in signal, so far. Just ordered white one so I could change out when the mood hit me. Although my wife likes the black one better

Cut mine down even with the roofline. No change in reception and it looks much better.

What's wrong with the Mustang tuning one?

I've got the 8", I don't have any problems with it. Looks a lot better than a cut antenna. I don't have that wrap around wire, just a nice smooth mini antenna.

I tried a shorty 8" antenna but the reception definately suffered, and even when I got a solid signal it sounded muffled and hollow. I do want to replace the stock one but I don't feel like buying another antenna and having it be sub-par.

I know expeditions don't have antennas, why couldn't they have done that in the mustang?

I've also got an 8-inch antenna mast from Mustang Tuning. It looks great and I've had zero reception problems in the Phoenix area and in my adventures through central Arid-zona.

I just cut mine down to 3 inches, absolutely no signal loss in FM band. As far as AM stations.... dunno, never listened to those anyway
