Replacing Shaker Door Amps & Subs

Hey Everyone,

I'm in the midst of replacing my head unit with a factory one out of a 2009 Edge (newer interface), which seems to send a 2V pre-out to the shaker 500 door subs (same as what the Shaker head unit does?).

As part of the upgrade, I'm considering adding the Shelby/Kicker 8" door subs, but as far as I've read, to get full use of these, one really should add amplification beyond what the factory amps can/do do.

So, I'm looking at removing the factory amps in the driver kickpanel, and installing a 4 small 4-channel amp (bridged to 2 channels) in it's place.

My question is, would this be as simple as taking the positive, negative, and turn-on leads from the smallest radio connector, splitting the positive / negative into 2 RCAs, and connecting it to one of these amps?

Or when people do this, are they taking the full band high-level outputs for the 6x8s, and then using their amplifier to filter out only the low frequencies?
