I think this would be better than the power outlet on the dash. Does anyone know how they work though. Would your regular key do anything anymore and how do you turn the car off with this.

New Viper has it, new Vette has it. Ford GT has it.
Turn the key to on, push button...turn off engine by turning the key off.
If 3rd notch is on, and 4th notch is start (on the regular ignition)
with a push button, just think it doesn't have a 4th notch...thats the push buttons job.

Vette doesn't need a key ignition (ones hidden though) as it has a wireless connection, telling it that theres a key present, and allows you to push the ignition button.
Kinda cool

I like it, but I wouldn't want to look at the lighted buttom on my dash all the time.

It's avail in a non-illuminated red button too.

Here's the link to this thread about this under Audio & Interior Dress-Up Mods

I posted the PDF installation instructions too in that thread.

Hey why not, my 51 Ford and Mercury pickups have push button start. It's funny when people who have never seen them before go for a ride.

I would love one of these if someone ever gets it done correctly. Would something like this void any part of the warranty? Messing with the ignition seems like it might, that is unless Ford comes out with an official add-on.

The old push button start pedal on the floor next to the gas. Now that was a bright idea years ago.

hmm, radar detector and start switch.... Im not sure how that would work. I guess there are two options: 1) still use radar on the power point in the dash and then the start button in the center console?? or 2) get a single to double power point adapter?? and use one for radar, and the other for the start button(leaving the third power point in the center console for things like cell phone charger etc. Any opinions or thoughts?

How about a wireless radar detector?

I always wired the radar detectors to a switched fuse in the fuse box. Usually used the switched power lead to the radio.
