Just out of curiosity here, how difficult is it to remove the passenger airbag without it blowing up in your face? Any ford service pdf's relating to this would be awesome. Thanks!

I had to replace the air bags in my old 2000 GT and it is very easy, BUT, you must be carefull. First you have to disconect the battery and wait 30 minutes berfore undoing any wires. After that, it should just be a matter of taking off the glove box door, undoing a couple of screws, unplugging it and pulling it out.

You will get an air bag light come on on the dash and if you try to disconnect that light, you will most likely have a beeper start going.

Why do you want to remove it?

Passenger side airbag module is held in by 2 - 8mm bolts accessed from the glovebox area (drop down glovebox to access). Airbag deactivation is a must when working with the airbags. The procedure for deactivating the airbag system has changed for 2005.
Two pdfs attached.
Please use caution!!

I'm removing it for an IUP dash swap. Thanks for the informative PDFs, I have removed airbags before, and it's a risky thing. As William Hung would say: " I have no formal training, but I do my best."
