As long as they didnt hack up any wires too bad when they put it in it shouldnt mean anything for your install. You can take it out if you want becasue you wont need it.
Yeah I have the Shaker 500. So I believe its just the subs in the two doors and nothing in the trunk.

Yeah, I didn't know if it improved the sound ( when I thought it may be a mini amplifier), but it doesn't do anything worthwhile I'll probably take it. But if I can leave it there without affecting install, I'll just leave it. I guess I won't know until I take the stock unit out.

ok that makes more sense then. They must have put it in to run subwoofers in the trunk. For your install it won't effect anything so you can leave it alone. If you ever decide to add subs in the trunk I would remove it, as you will be able to run cords straight from the deck.

If you pull the trunk carpet back there is most likely a set of rca cords not running to anything.

Thanks! You've been a huge help. Can't wait to get this unit in.

Hey quick question, is there any special key required to remove the stock head unit? My friend was telling me how it is old Ford Ranger required a special key to remove his head unit(guessing some anti-theft protection). He was thinking it was a Ford thing and mine had it as well. I don't think it does because I've watched videos on youtube but just wanted to make sure.

No keys required, just a few bolts on the front of the unit.

Well got my head unit and getting ready to put it in! Only thing is I forgot to order the brake bypass. Dumb me. Would it be dumb to install the head unit? Will I have to pull everything out again to install the brake bypass?

Depending on the head unit you have, you may be able to get away with just grounding the parking brake wire

Yeah I did some research and it doesn't work apparently on pioneers. I ordered it so hopefully it comes soon! Shipped today with expedited shipping. Hoping by Friday.

Before my current unit , I had a Pioneer AVHP4000DVD and all I had to do was run the wire to a toggle switch I added and then grounded it. When the unit asked me to apply the parking brake I would just cycle the switch and it worked. Maybe the new units have changed ?

I think something like that may work. The one I ordered sends a "double pulse". Not sure what that means electrically but yeah. But I didn't really want a switch someone so I just ordered the one on amazon that is programmed already for my head unit. Hopefully it works. Because apparently not only does it rely on the hand brake, but they also have a gyroscope to sense movement. I just hope it works.

I just recently put in a Clarion NX702 and I got one off Amazon for it too , just so I didn't have to flip the switch. But as stated above , I think some of the newer units may not work with just grounding the wire , which is another reason I got the brake bypass this time.
