Harnesses are killing us right now - still waiting on the vendor to finish producing them. Hoping to have them complete by end of year. Some YouTube videos have been posted of the CANopener. Hope to have CANopener Harmony videos up within the week.

Brian,

Glad to have you on here giving updates. That is great!

Will you have a kit for 05-09 Mustangs to make this work along with Sync É

We need to test it for compatibility with the mustang. It was designed for the F150, but built with other vehicles in mind.

If you want a test monkey, I'm more than happy to volunteer. I had my head unit programmed by you guys a couple of months ago, and unfortunately never got the GPS (or lighting) to work.

Did anyone else get the email from 4dtech about the harness being available?

I did. Still don't know about full compatibility with the Mustang or if Sync retrofit is compatible.

The CANopener line of products are currently NOT compatible in the 08 and older mustangs. We are still conducting testing to resolve what we believe is the last hurdle to making the CANopener work properly with the Mustang. Once the code changes have been made, we will need to conduct testing on the various years from 05-08.

We hope to have some news early next week. Thank you for the continued interest!

It will be nice if they can make it work on the 05-08 acm.

Al-

Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately the additional hardware and engineering costs would be substantial and there is no longer a market for such a device. As a result we have no plans of making a device that will work with the pioneer navigation systems.

Thanks Brad, by the way my radio and sync components you set up are working great.
Happy New Year.

We are currently testing a new version of the CANopener Harmony to specifically resolve several issues with the integration of the 09+ navigation units into the pre 09 Mustangs.

We wanted to gather some data to verify our findings. If you currently have (or have in the past attempted) to install a Clarion based navigation system (09+ unit with HDD navigation and jukebox) in your pre 09 Mustang, could you reply to this thread with an exact copy of the below text with the answers filled in?

Model: (ex. Mustang GT)
Year: (ex. 2006)
Transmission: (ex. Automatic / Manual)

Did the navigation arrow move/work properly?
Did the unit play DVD's in park?
Did the illumination of the buttons and day/night mode of the screen work properly?

Thanks in advance!

Some years ago I tried it.

2005 Mustang GT convertible
automatic
Lights always on
Don't remember about DVD playing
GPS signal/arrow didn't work.
no sound - I didn't hook up an amp, as I know to do now.

Did the unit play DVD's in park? Don't know.
Did the illumination of the buttons and day/night mode of the screen work properly? No, lights were always on, but screen colours were / are day mode.

Hey Brad,

Interesting question for you...I'm going to upgrade my shaker door subs & amp. I'm planning on running that amp off my current aftermarket amp (which is connected directly to the OEM head unit without the factory amp/LOC). Do you know if the head outputs full range audio for the speakers, or just mids/highs because I have subwoofer 1and2 turned on?

Sorry about the delay, I thought we were subscribed to this thread and would receive notifications.

It outputs full range audio on the main 4 channels. It relies on the external amps for crossovers.

UPDATE:

At this point we have confirmed that there are differences between the automatic and manual transmission Mustangs. We are finishing final testing on the new CANopener Harmony SKU specifically for the Mustangs. This product will have all the CANopener functionality with the addition of the following:

-Fix all illumination issues so the backlight will turn on/off and dim as it should
-Fix the transmission gear input
-Fix the lack of GPS functionality in the automatic Mustangs

This should result in a completely functional install in the 06-08 Mustang (we have not tried one in the 05 yet, but don't see why it would be any different.
