Interior Plastic Trunk Latch Cover Broken
Interior Plastic Trunk Latch Cover Broken
Has anyone come up with a fix for these? It appears mine sheared off where the "c" shaped plastic leg from the trunk lid to the surface comes together. I probably closed the trunk and something was too close to the rear and hit it.
I was thinking of making a bracket out of aluminum with a couple of bolts and nuts to attach the broken parts together. I'd toss the thing out entirely, but then I'd have to cobble together some other holder for the trunk light and the latch mechanism would then be totally exposed to anything sliding around in the trunk.
It's a pretty lightweight [one might even say cheaply made] part I think, and a friend took one look and said "what do you expect? It's a ford." That was a tough one to answer.
